Can I use any RJ12 cable?

I've read that you're not supposed to use any other cables than what ships in the box or is sold on Fanatec's website. I guess that's mostly a way to exclude problems, should you have any.. Yet I'd like to know; can I use any RJ12 cable?
I have an issue where the cable which came with the pedals is quite short. I could need another meter or two so I can get a clean(er) setup.

Hi Ola,
You need a 'straight' type of RJ12 cable (where the internal wires do not cross over). Most should work fine, but bear in mind that longer cables act more like antennas and can pick up electronic interference. So I recommend that you don't buy something longer than you really need.
