Probably need to change DD1 into PC mode (Check OLED screen on DD1, it will show what mode base is in (PC, PC Comp, PS4, PS4 Comp, Xbox), if has been used in PS4 mode previously, can be done with a button combination on your steering wheel (Different for each wheel) so check manual for your wheel on correct combination.
Need more information on your setup and what versions of FW for base, wheel, WQR and driver have you used.
Depending on combinations of gear, you probably don't need to update drivers and Firmware for it to work ok, but depending on all sorts of issues in driver releases, v451, v455 are probably the most stable in general, v464 if your feeling lucky as it has been seen to cause all sorts of issues with various bases, same with FW updates, but for DD1, Wheel and WQR usually all are ok to install to current day versions.
As your a novice I would suggest you don't update your Fanatec gear as it has the potential to cause to many headaches for you.
However if you need to update your gear to support new wheels / hardware, etc and also Fanalab.
1) Just install the Driver Version of your Choice, will need v453 driver or higher for Fanalab 2.01.58 to function so suggest v455 or v464.
2) Put DD1 into PC mode and connect to computers motherboard USB port directly, no HUBs or extension cords.
3) Use Fanatec control panel suite to run FW updates for your (Motor / Base), then Wheels, Hubs, Pedals, etc).
Lastly, the WQR (You need to remove any steering wheel for that to work).
You may have to reboot your computer if the wheelbase has been updated and it doesn't detect the steering wheel when connected.
Hey Michael! Welcome to the world of PC sim racing! Switching from a PS5 to a PC is a big step, and we’re here to make the transition as smooth as possible. Let’s tackle this issue with your DD1 together. It’s great that your V3 pedals are recognized—this tells us the drivers are installed correctly, so we’re off to a good start. Now, about your base not being detected, the firmware likely needs updating to sync with the PC properly.
Start by visiting the Fanatec Driver Page and downloading the latest driver package for your system. Once installed, connect your base via USB, and launch the Fanatec Control Panel. If the base still isn’t recognized, try switching it to PC mode manually (usually done by holding the power button or toggling a switch on the base). Then, update the firmware using the included updater in the driver package, this step is crucial for compatibility.
If you run into any snags, double-check that all connections are secure and that your USB ports are functioning correctly. Sometimes simply trying a different USB port does the trick. Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this, and we’ve got your back every step of the way. Let us know how it goes, and we’ll guide you further if needed. Best, your Fanatec team.
So we had driver 464 and just deleted it to switch to driver 455.
Neither of these versions show that the DD1 base is connected to the PC. However if we switch to PS4/PS5 mode, Fanatec Control Panel will show me that the based is connected in Playstation Mode. Nothing is changing in my setup other than switching it from PS to PC.
Here is the kind of steering wheel I have and the current firmware versions showing on the wheel base. I'm beyond confused how it recognizes the base when it's in playstation mode but not when it's in PC mode.
Clearly if it's not recognizing the wheel base at all, it's not letting my update any firmware on the wheel base even if it does need updating. I've tried switching which USB port it's in and that doesn't change anything.
at 455 you may need todo atleast one base restart before you todo any firmware thing
Nope, that doesn't change anything either. Unless you mean more than just power on/off on the wheel base.
Check out my response above. Thank you!
you have there some reason very old firmware
try use some older software first, like 451 or maybe even older
maybe try first the 434
try install at there the correct firmware
also manual firmware install use only if its really needed
Based on my photos above with which firmware version I have on the DD1 base, which drivers would be needed to start updating my DD1 properly?
Changelog of driver v434 - v440
*** Firmware versions included ***
• Podium DD1 / DD2 Base : 690 (NEW)
• Podium DD1 / DD2 Motor : 42 (NEW)
1) You need to load up Fanatec Driver package in the range of v434 - v440 that has the Motor FW of 42 for the motor that matches yours, you will have to roll back the base from 3.x.x.x to 690 as above.
2) With the Wheel base turned off, press and hold the power button for 10 or more seconds, until wheelbase enters Bootloader mode and reprograms the correct FW for Motor and Base. (42, 690).
3) Reboot computer and see if base working, detected in Fanatec control panel.
4) Once these two FW updates are matched, you can install any Driver versions v447 - v464 to take both FW to 3.x.x.x versions, might pay to manually update FW of Motor first (As should always be done before Base), Then the base, (You can do automatically, but even that does it incorrectly sometimes).
5) Can update any other peripherals as needed after all the above is complete.
