DD+ Base of less than a month old, suffering from the WQR glitch
A little over 2 weeks ago I was able to buy a practically new DD+ wheelbase, still under warranty, including original buyers invoice, as well as the invoice for mentioned month old replacement base. The original buyer already had a warranty replacement but was fed up with how things went, so he sold his setup. Sounded good, price was just a little under new, so I felt quite good about my purchase. Had I only known better...
I finally got there, I had Fanatec at home. I was now the proud owner of a DD+, a R330 rim with v2 Xbox hub, QR2 and V3 pedalset.
The first few days I was tinkering with settings in game, pedalsetup, couldn't have been happier.
Until 2 days ago...
I turned on my Xbox, ready to go, plugged in the rig, powered up and no calibration action, red light and 0 response.
I decided to be smart in stead of panic and connected the base to my laptop. Behold, we had life in the base, auto update drivers as base was in update mode, completed that and all looked fine, crisis averted.
Today, start of the weekend, winding down from work, Xbox, tv, Fanatec, and we were in for a great night.
No such luck! No response, red light, bring in the laptop again, and same process of auto update all over again.
I decided to test, power off, power on, UPDATE MODE YET AGAIN...
Now I did start to worry, a €1000 base, not even one month old, the rabbit hole of RMA, warranty, challenges due to original invoice being in someone else's name, the Fanatec customer service reputation... The panic was complete.
Scouring the forums the only fix available was logging a support ticket... So down that route we go.
Too make a long story short, this is my first Fanatec experience. My excitement of finally getting rid of belt drives and really going all out on a proper base and pedalset was shortlived. To be honest, excitement is replaced by disappointment.
I expected so much more, where I already was somewhat tricked by the seller, not Fanatecs fault, I am now owner of a broken wheelbase.
Fanatec, you were the pinnacle of Sim hardware, what happened?
Hopefully the customer service experience will not be as what I have read on the forum, as that makes me regret my purchase even more.

people seems hurry without look if WQR installed correctly or not
you should never connect the steering wheel when WQR is needed install.
install just fails if you to do that and you will be endless install loop
you may need todo base restart after WQR install for make sure that it's actually installed
after that you can go next step
The key thing is, the base was fully up to date so it did not need an update. It started to boot up in update mode upon power on out of the blue, or red or green, depending on your platform.
I read through the instructions and did multiple attempts to properly install the update.
If the utility says completed, all ok and I get the correct version details on screen after the unexpected update mode, how can that be a faulty install?
So not really in a hurry, but an issue with the WQR seems to be the problem.
Looking at the various forums and even the Fanatec support page, it is not uncommon...
i to seen weird stuff happen sometimes with they software, so honestly i'm not surprised at anything
for example today it go totally crazy, was not able detect base, flickering the settings with different setups and so on.
yes issues w batches of DD+ and WQR, most resolved w 457, but some prompted 462 & 3. 464 was new product feature and another tweak. So might be worth trying 457 and see how that works, while waiting for support to respond. It could be FW install issue from previous owner.
uninstall the driver first using windows
Nevermind, already found them. Let's try. went for 455 as 457 is reportidly unstable.
Where can I find the 457 package as it is not available on the website.
When trying to downgrade to an older package, still had 453 in the dark corners of my laptop, the wheelbase is not even detected.
How can I then overwrite the current firmware on the base and wqr?
Thx
Test complete, downgrade back to 455 and the error persists.
This now does indicate we have a hardware issue.
I was hoping it was software, but after doing the full revert it is now certain.
@Support team, the ticket is logged, can you urgently advise by mail what to do?
Thx.
Small update, Fanatec issued the RMA, sent today and hopefully I will get a working base back asap.
