    Fanatec Driver 400

    New Firmware Manager

Short video demonstrating the new Firmware Manager

    Changelog since driver version 381

    General

    • New Firmware Manager guiding the user through all firmware updates step by step including instructions and functions to calibrate wheel center, shifter and more. Driver property page now only has one update button which opens the Firmware manager.
    • Firmware Manager can save your Tuning Menu settings and restore them automatically after the update if you want to
    • New function to inform the user if a new steering wheel is attached which the currently installed base firmware doesn't know and can't support. If it is shown the user has to download the most recent driver from the steering wheels download page and update the firmware.
      • Pop-up message on the drivers property page
      • Wheels with 7-segment display will show a blinking "Upd"
      • Wheels with small OLED display will show "CAUTION Please update the Firmware!"
      • Bases or wheels with big OLED display will show "CAUTION Steering Wheel not supported! Please update the Firmware!"

    ClubSport Pedals V3

    • Improved smoothness of the load cell / brake pedal signal. Pedals need to be plugged in via USB for the firmware update. Never connect pedals via USB and RJ12 at the same time! In case you want to compare old and new or revert to the old one -> change Firmware Manager to manual update, open the Updater and then use the 3 dots to select version 1.30.

    Podium DD Wheel Base

    • [LIN] FFB Linearity Tuning Menu Setting now set to ON by default.

    CSL E Wheel Base 1.1

    • Fixed: Endstop on left/CCW side comes bit later than on the right/CW side

    Button Module Endurance

    • Now will show all pop-up messages like the Podium DD display. For example: Torque Key warning, shifter/center calibration instruction and more

    McLaren GT3

    • Fixed: Driver does not recognize initial State of 1-12-MPSs after restart if MPS Mode is set to PULSE

    Driver

    • Fixed missing motor firmware version for CSL E WB 1.1
    • Fixed pedal vibration buttons missing
    • Implemented Generic Wheel pop-up

    • Formula V2   : v40 (NEW)
    • Podium Hub : v5 (NEW)
    • Podium BME : v17 (NEW)

    Known Issues

    • After the driver installation or firmware update, it is possible that the wheel base is not shown in the device list anymore. If this is the case, launch the driver installation again and run the repair function.
    • Podium wheel base jolts can happen on ITM or analysis screens of the wheel base display. A workaround is to use the default screen with “Fanatec” logo while driving. Last year we could solve the jolts which happened also on the default screen, we will now work on the remaining jolts on the other analysis and ITM screens.
    • If the Podium DD is put into COMP mode for the first time after driver installation a restart might be needed so the property page can get opened without an error message as the DD is then detected as a new device.
    • BME on Xbox: Guide button acts as long press even when pressed briefly.

New driver 410 available for all products

    Changelog since driver 402

    Driver UI

    • New driver UI for CSL DD and Podium wheel bases. Will be rolled out for more wheel bases later. The old UI can still be accessed through the "USB-Gamecontroller" overview of windows.
    • Fixed Tuning Menu tab showing tool tip of APM setting even with no APM attached.
    • Correct wheel base is now displayed even when in Compatibility Mode.
    • Removed option to choose wheel base when Podium DD is in Comp V2.5 mode (no longer required due to improved detection).
    • Changed Tuning Menu setting LIN ON/OFF to FFS LIN/PEAK (Force Feedback Scaling).

    Firmware Manager

    • Fixed button at the end of shifter calibration being incorrect.
    • Fixed issue where updater would erase existing flash even when FW could not load correctly for flashing.
    • Option to save Tuning Menu settings during firmware update is now hidden instead of grayed out if base doesn't support this function.
    • Added text "No update required" for steering wheels that are not firmware-updatable.
    • Text correction for description of Podium DD motor sensor calibration.

    Firmware Overall

    • Fixed steering angle not being linear after a firmware update.
    • Fixed issue where a combination of Formula V2, H-pattern shifter, and second shifter could lead to an inverted shifter input.
    • While in BRF setting the LEDs now flash when 100% brake input is reached.

    CSL DD

    • Fixed constant vibration noise of the motor which could give a grainy feeling and be audible which results in a smoother feeling.
    • Fixed damper effect from games being rough and noisy, for example in AC when car is standing still.
    • The 'Damper' effect modifier (DPR) is now scaled differently and is able to be stronger. Depending on how a game uses this damper, it might feel too strong for some users, but this can be easily adjusted with the DPR setting in the Advanced Mode of the Tuning Menu.
    • Fixed BRF setting not being adjustable in single steps with D-Pad up/down.
    • Fixed BLI setting shown as "oFF" instead of "OFF".
    • Fixed wrong FFS setting values on 7-segment displays.
    • Improved rotation during boot up which is now smoother and less rapid.

    Podium DD

    • Renamed Tuning Menu setting LIN to FFS (Force Feedback Scaling). ON -> LIN and OFF -> Peak.

    • In some cases after all firmware updates are complete, the wheel might ask for another centre calibration which can be performed either via the driver UI or the button combination of the connected wheel which is mentioned in its Quick Guide.
    • New UI doesn't yet remember if a different product picture was chosen by the user and reverts back to default when opened again.

    • Fixed clearing torque message by turning wheel to 90° was not possible
    • Unified how CBP is shown to how it is on other displays
    • Fixed BME pop-up message getting displayed later than on the wheelbase

    Known Issues

    • Podium wheel base jolts can happen on ITM or analysis screens of the wheel base display. A workaround is to use the default screen with “Fanatec” logo while driving. We are still working on a fix which needs an extensive re-write of the P DD firmware which is why it takes so long.

    • Natural Friction (NFR) can create a weird FFB sensation and not smooth feeling after some time, we suggest to set it to OFF in case you get this issue. You can raise the Natural Damper (NDP) slightly to compensate for less NFR.
    • When entering a game menu while driving in some games it can happen that the FFB effect doesn't get cancelled which results in the wheel turning to one side.

    • Adapted Firmware Manager update process to new P DD firmware. Because of the extensive firmware changes in regard to the internal communication a special order needs to be followed.
    • Added downgrade feature for P DD, only available if FW is already up to date. Offers 3 version ranges to downgrade to and is performing the correct downgrade procedure automatically. This should prevent people from doing it in the wrong order accidentally.
    • Added steering wheel and button module firmware recovery tools for cases where the device appears to be bricked.
    • Added additional pop-up message between P DD motor and base firmware update to inform that it's normal that the fan is running at 100% in this situation.
    • Added firmware update and switching modes of ClubSport USB Adapter (Shifter, Pedals and Handbrake mode)

    • Fixed some cosmetic issues in the Tuning Menu.
    • Fixed BLI Tuning Menu setting also shown if no accessory is attached which supports it.
    • Fixed that only one MPS input could get send at a time when two MPS get turned at the same time.

    • Fixed vibration caused by higher NFR settings.
    • Fixed "Maximum rotations exceeded" message getting shown without reason.
    • Fixed INT not working correctly if FFB is set higher than 50% and FEI set to 100.
    • Fixed damper effect getting activated unintentionally when having a crash in iRacing.
    • Fixed DPR behaving differently in ACC when new in-game damper is used.
    • Fixed text cut off on ITM page 1.
    • Fixed controller disconnection with PlayStation.
    • Improved reliability of steering wheel and button module firmware updates.
    • Potential fix of a very rare issue where an unintended base update would get started while a vibration effect gets activated by iRacing.
    • FFS setting is now inactive and hidden in low torque mode, because it had no useful influence in low torque mode.
    • Fixed Clutch Bite Point value getting shown differently on base and wheel display.
    • Fixed sometimes CAL still shown even though center calibration was already done after a firmware update.
    • General improvements of timing, stability and latency.
    • Increased resolution of analysis screen graphs again. (resolution got reduced in a past update to improve the jolt issue)

    • Adjusted strength of damper effect which is controlled by the "DPR" setting of the advanced Tuning Menu.

CSL DD / GT DD PRO

    • Fixed rare and brief jump of steering wheel position. Most noticeable in iRacing by a rapid steering angle change only visible for ~1 frame. Could be felt as a jolt like sensation.

    • Fixed brake input flickering of CSP V3.
    • Improved lower end dead zones to prevent ghost input.
    • Improved upper dead-zones in auto calibration to prevent saving a too high value if pressed hard against the end stop.
    • Improved standard values in automatic calibration so the first slight input is not directly at 100%.
    • Improved automatic calibration so short peaks at max against the end stops don't set a calibration which can't be reached anymore afterwards. Max input now needs to stay for ~2sec to get auto calibrated again.

    Known Issues

    • When entering a game menu while driving it can happen in some games that the FFB effect doesn't get canceled which results in the wheel turning to one side. (this got now fixed for the Podium DD but can still happen on the CSL DD. We will now apply the fix for the CSL DD as well)
    • Natural friction can start to feel weird after some time of driving. In case you experience issues with NFR, we suggest to turn it OFF for now. (this got now fixed for the Podium DD but can still happen on the CSL DD. We will now apply the fix for the CSL DD as well)
