No more love for the Universal Hub v1 on newer bases
The newer DD bases all promised to work with "all Fanatec wheels", even a promise of a Type F QR1 downgrade option. But it never arrived.
There are a couple of options to use the original Fanatec wheels on QR2 bases.
Order a replica Type F adapter from Simon at SRM, or his exchangeable QR adapters. Or the other website that also offers exchangeable QR adapters at a lower cost.
Because of the benefits of the QR2, I converted them all, my BMW M3 GT2, Porsche 918 RSR, and 6 Universal Hubs V1. Also have a Formula Carbon that will also get the QR2 treatment.
On a ClubSport DD was pleased to see the BMW and Porsche wheel recognized with proper image and both fully functional. Also expect the Formula Carbon will also work.
The Universal Hubs V1 also are recognized (with a Universal Hub X Box image) and all buttons work, but sadly, the shifters DO NOT. Pressing the buttons on top of the hub illuminates the shifters as being pulled. L1 for the left paddle (B6), and R1 for the right paddle (B5). Don't want to have to reach through the wheel to shift.
Really wish the developers would fix this. Certainly they have access to a Fanatec Type F adapter.
Then the claims in the DD advertising of working with "all Fanatec wheels" would be undeniable.

I can confirm that the Formula Black works just fine via SRM type F adapter on my DD+, so your Formula Carbon will too as the base can't tell one from the other (it even shows Carbon image for me).
As for fixing the problem with the shifter on the hub, if nothing gets done by the Fanatec did you think about changing connections inside (or maybe splicing the wires if connectors for L1/R1 and paddles don't match?
Thank you Dmitry for the confirmation on the Formula wheels.
I thought about disconnecting the shifters from their connectors and soldering to the L1 and R1, but the circuit boards are very small and I don't want to risk messing them up with my so so soldering skills.
Also thought might be related to the Podium APM top buttons not working and wait and see if future software changes might also fix the issue with the UH V1 paddles.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the Universal Hub V1 and the newer DD bases! We understand how important compatibility is, especially when you're trying to get the best performance from your setup. While we currently do not have a Type F adapter option available, we’re continually working to improve product compatibility. Regarding the issue with shifters not being recognized, it sounds like something we definitely want to look into more. We appreciate your patience, and we encourage you to reach out to our support team directly to help troubleshoot further and explore potential solutions. Feel free to keep an eye on our website and social media for future updates on compatibility and new adapters. Thanks again for your feedback, and we’ll keep striving to make Fanatec products work seamlessly with all your gear!
Thanks Oliva. We'll see if the developers can keep the promise.
Also have a Universal Hub v2 with Podium Advanced Paddle Modules and the upper paddles don't work. That's already a known issue.
Other observations on the UHub V1.
On driver 463, the "Steering Wheel Settings" must be selected as "Analog Axes" (BTW spelling should be Axis).
If set to "Clutch Bite Point", the ClubSport Pedals clutch pedal is depressed.
If set to "Clutch/Handbrake", the ClubSport Pedals clutch and brake pedals are depressed.
If set to "Brake/Throttle", the ClubSport Pedals brake and throttle pedals are depressed.
