Cannot shift out of neutral with DD+ with f1 v2 wheel and CSL Elite Pedals (non load cell)

Hi folks, I'm hoping to get some resolution to a problem that I am having with my new fanatec dd+ with f1 v2 wheel that is paired with older csl elite pedals that do not have the loadcell upgrade, or a clutch pedal.

The issue is present on ps5 on gt7 as well as every game i try on pc (automobilista 2 and f1 2024), but there is something that will not allow me to shift out of neutral in gt7 and on pc i cannot shift out of neutral, and will even shift into reverse if there is no further input. The vibration test does not work in the fanatec control panel either, but the effects seem to work in game and can be felt when in reverse.

Troubleshooting steps that i have tried:

Tried different usb ports on both ps5 and pc.

Removed the wheel and remounting on the base.

Changed ingame settings to all games from manual to automatic and back again.

Unplugging everything and plugging back in, as well as turning the power off and back on.

Updated the drivers and firmware on the wheel and base, but not the pedals as there is no way to connect them without the loadcell upgrade.

As the issues are crossplatform, Im think it is hardware related and may require an RMA or return/exhange. The documentation is pitiful and unhelpful. Has anyone encountered this? I am hoping that I am missing a setting or maybe there is some incompatibility with the old csl elite pedals (they work with the csl elite base fine). I am grasping at straws and searching reddit, these forums, as well as general google searches have turned up nothing helpful. Any insight would be great.

I have attempted to put in a ticket as well, but there does not appear to be any email confirmation or system to track tickets, or am i missing something?

Hi Joshua! Sorry to hear about the shifting issue you’re facing. Let’s troubleshoot this together! Since the problem persists across platforms, it could indeed be hardware related, but a few additional checks might help clarify:

1️⃣ Pedal Signal: Without a clutch pedal, make sure your brake pedal isn’t inadvertently triggering neutral. You can check pedal input in the Fanatec Control Panel.

2️⃣ Base Mode: Confirm that the DD+ is in the correct mode for the platform you’re using (PS5 or PC). Switching modes might resolve compatibility hiccups.

3️⃣ Firmware Sync: Ensure the wheel, base, and connected peripherals are fully synced with the latest firmware. Even if pedals don’t update, they rely on the base.

4️⃣ In-Game Calibration: In GT7 and PC games, verify the calibration settings, including shifting and pedal assignments. Incorrect mappings can result in neutral/reverse behavior.

If none of these steps help, an RMA might indeed be necessary. You should receive an email confirmation after submitting a ticket, check spam/junk folders just in case. Let us know how it goes! 🙌

Hi olivia, i misdiagnosed the issue. All problems seem to stem from my csl elite (non load cell) pedals constantly applying 56% braking when not applying any pressure to the pedal. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the rj cable several times to the DD+, and it never applys 0%.

I swapped the DD+ out with the CSL Elite base and the pedals function perfectly, and show 0% when no pressure is applied to the pedal.

Does this indicate some sort of firmware or driver issue with the DD+ and the f1 wheel? Is there some calibration setting somewhere (i cannot find one)? Or is it a possible bad rj port on the DD+?

Or is there just a compatibility problem that could be solved with a newer pedal set?

Thank you so much for the assistance.

  • how about in gt7 does pedal is in at 0 position?

Hi Allan, I checked this after reading your response and saw that it was at 100%. After pumping the brake a few times, it came down to the 50's, and I am now able to apply a higher minimum threshhold.. kind of like a deadzone, and I can finally play gt7 with the wheel, but have to change the settings every time. It is a good temporary solution. Thank you for asking that question!

Now I need to figure out if it is an issue with the base or if it is a pedal issue. I'm hoping that it is the pedals and that the new dd+ wheelbase does not have to be RMA'd or just returned. Id rather just replace the pedals if it would resolve the issue.

Does anyone have any ideas? The csl elite pedals (non load cell) have this issue with the brake at 50 to 60% applied when not being touched and is only on the DD+, but not the CSL elite base. The DD+ also does nothing in the fanatec control panel when doing the vibration test, but the vibration effects seem to work in game.

Are their any known issues with defective wheel base pedal ports? Or is a firmware or driver issue possibly causing this? Something else maybe?
