Drift & Rallye Part II: ClubSport Hand Brake

Thomas JackermeierThomas Jackermeier Member, Administrator
So you have to scratch off flies from the side windows of your 4WD rather than the windscreen? Then this is the perfect product for you.

The Fanatec ClubSport Hand Brake features an analog axis and is fully made of metal. The soft foam grip is very ergonomic and you can either connect it to the ClubSport USB adapter or plug it into the ClubSport pedals. If you use it with the pedals it will even be compatible to Forza Motorsport.

The lever can be mounted in two different ways and you can attach it to both sides or at the bottom. (manual video below)

It is available very soon for 99,95 USD / Euro (exc. tax / incl. tax)

Not sure how I missed this earlier but it says in the below link that  the usb unit will allow it to run as a stand alone unit..

  • I've just received the Handbrake today and the hardware looks high quality and strong like the rest of the gear I have so far.

My question is, has anyone out there already got one and figured out how to attach it to the CSL Seat ?

I had a very quick look and given all parts of the CSL Seat frame are round, it seems to me an adapter should exist to aid in the mounting of this.

If there's anyone out there with a solution to this, i'd like to see what they did.

this blog doesnt even allow an edit ? or i just cant seem to find a way to do it.

bad news on the other hand think i need the usb adaptor am getting strange issues with the handbrake not connecting up and staying stable was fine a couple of nights ago, strange wonder if its the driver related
wonder why the pedals have to be separate as well. i like having the pedals connected to the wheel so i can switch between ps3 and pc, fanatec can you confirm if the driver will fix that issue plugging pedals straight to the wheel and handbrake working?

    bahhhhh now its working
crazy fanatec gear... ok calm down.
  • what kind of strange issues are you getting, cause ive got some issues as well, i never get the handbrake to go to full when i pull on it, but something ive noticed are if i pull on it quickly most of the time i will get 100% but if i do it slow it will only go half way. but after a while it wont go 100% at all, the only way i found to reset it was to unplug the pedals from the usb on the computer and back in and it will work again, but then after a while same problem reappears.
  • I'm having issues also,  After spending ages building a custom mount I've finally got to plugging it into my PC..lol

At 1st it was recognised in the PC but when I tried to view it in the game controller panel it didn't allow me to adjust anything, after installing the firmware then updating to the new 200 firmware it has now recognised it as a controller and a handbrake and if I pull on the lever it shows motion in the game controller screen. BUT in game(grid autosport) it does not recognise the handbrake and if I try to restart the PC it will not start up until I unplug the fanatic USB adaptor. Anyone got any ideas or tried to use it on the PC platform with grid autosports??

  • Hi,

I too have an big issue with the Handbrake.

I connected it directly to the CSP V2, so no usb adaptor is used.
Everything works fine until i connect my TH8RS to the PC. Then the Handbrake doesnt work anymore.
Sometimes i can reach not more than 70% of the axis on the Fanatec Property Page, but most of the time the handbrake cannot reach even 1% - so its like as i have unplugged it.

I have Windows 8.1 and i have already done the energy saving settings for it (as it is recommended on the FAQ Page of the CSP V2) but nothing changed.
So i tried a USB Hub with external Power Supply Unit because i thought it may can be less Power on the USB Ports, but again nothing changed.

So has anybody an solution for that problem? I´m just freaking out having some perfect Fanatec Hardware which I´m not able to use :-(

    Thanks, Patrick
  • Hello all,

Like Patrick, i've a problem with my Fanatec Handbrake and my TH8RS in sequential mod.
When TH8RS is plugged by USB on my PC, Handbrake doesn't work (USB adaptator). It is recognized by Win 7, but the analog sensor stays at 0%. When TH8RS is unplugged, Handbrake is OK.
Raaaaaaaa, incompatibility ?? Problem with firmware ??
Thanks for yours anwers for that !

    Seb.
  • Hi Sebastien!

Thanks for the info that the usb adaptor doesnt solve the problem. I thought this could solve it. So i wrote to the support Team a week ago, but no answer yet.

    What´s your PC/system? I run a Acer Predator intel I5 3,20 Ghz on Windows 8.1

If you got a solution than please let me know whats the problem! I do also!

    greets,
    Patrick

  • Hi There will this work with a csr wheel?
  • Fanatec; you have a grounding problem on the handbrakes!!
Yesterday I received my new handbrake. Happy as a little kid with a new toy after Christmas.
It was a hell of a job to get it installed on my custom race-rig, but it is pure porn to look at the end result.

Alas.... joy was not present... Handbrake did not work...
I tried different connections (since I have the total package: CSW, pedals V2 and SQ shifter).
    Still no joy.
    New software/drivers.
    Still no joy.
    Reconnect...
    No joy.
    Power off/on...
    No joy.
Ohm meter at hand to check the connection / potentio meter...
...wut...? Endless resistance on the frame, measured from one of the potentio wires?
So I started to search on the net... on another forum I read that another person also had the same issue. He used tape to isolate the bolts he used to install the handbrake.
I disassembled the 3.5mm jack from the bottom of the handbrake (no cover installed).
Joy was presented... the handbrake showed life !
To be sure I started a game to check the in-game effects. It works like it should !

So everyone who has a metal race-rig: either isolate the handbrake from the rest of your race-rig, or isolate the 3.5 mm jack.

Since it is now hanging loose... what solution is Fanatec going to present?
  • Hi,

I had also trouble with my new handbrake. You can only use the handbrake connected to the pedals when you connect the pedals via USB to your computer. The handbrake wont work when the pedals are connected to the CSW base.

I got this info from the fanatec support.

I not sure if this is also the problem of some other people, but this info is currently not documented.
