DD1 and non-fanatec wheels?

I have a DD1, and I am interested in getting a GT3-type wheel for it, but something a little higher end than the McLaren one that Fanatec offers. I want something with an open top about 30 cm wide - similar to the BMW wheel Fanatec announced last December, and then seemingly forgot about.
I was looking at the Ascher Racing and Cube Controls rims, but I am open to other options. Has anybody tried using 3rd party wheels such as these on the DD1? Any problems or annoyances I should think about?
I would like to stay Fanatec for a new wheel, but they seem more focused on their entry level stuff right now (some of which looks like great stuff, just not what I am looking for) so I want to explore my options.
Thanks!

You need atleast something like a Fanatec Podium hub to make it work on a DD1. An annoyances would be that you can't use the wireless data comm. between wheel and DD1. So probably you need to use USB cable between wheel and PC.
Plus you need to be mindful that you can connect the Podium hub to the 3rd party wheel.
The BWM GT3 is still coming and was annouced for release in Q3 from the start. So for that one you need to wait a bit longer.
The announcement was that the M4 GT3 wheel would launch Q2 2021. So in the next three weeks...
Oops my mistake, it's indeed Q2 2021. But still need to wait a bit longer as you mention Q2 is not over. But my feeling says they do not make it or they use the last day of Q2 for pre-order start.
no you are actually right, BMW M4 got delayed to the 2nd half of 2021. Confirmed by Thomas himself in another forum.
I have an Acelith rim for the Podium Button Module. Combined with a Podium Hub and the Advanced Paddle Module it makes a great GT-style wheel. Not open top, but quite similar to the wheel in the Porsche 911 RSR.
It would be handy if they then update the BMW GT3 page. There it still mentions Q2 2021.
The Acelith with a Podium or Universal hub and Endurance module is also a good option. Have the wheel also since a few days and I like it. Not so plastic als de Mclaren GT3. Although the Acelith is a bit heavy.
link?
Yeah it still mentions Q2, which is wrong, don't expect the wheel to be released this month.
The Acelith is not my cup of tea tbh.
was an answer somewhere in the virtualracing.org forum in April, don't have the link anymore.
Seems odd he would would answer in another forum, but ignore the repeated questions in his own forum, from his own customers, who are clearly interested in purchasing the wheel.
I'll look into the Acelith too - I don't think it would block the bottom of my monitor or the lcd dashboard (the cheaper SimCore) I have attached to the DD1 base.
