CSL DD Firmware Update, Bootloader Modus, RMA usw

Hallo zusammen,

Link aktuelle Software (Stand 20.11.21 20:25)

https://fanatec.com/media/archive/4b/17/f4/2021-11-11-Fanatec_driver_429.zip

    Hello, everyone,

I would like to do a little review about my experiences with the CSL DD in relation to the firmware.

This contains all information up to RMA.

If you have problems with the firmware update or the base can no longer be switched on, just read on.

First of all, before you do anything with the CSL DD, you should download and install the current driver software.

Link current software (as of 11/20/21 8:25 PM)

    https://fanatec.com/media/archive/4b/17/f4/2021-11-11-Fanatec_driver_429.zip

After downloading, proceed as with all other installations. It is essential to do this before connecting the hardware to avoid certain problems.

If you have already connected the hardware and installed a driver software that is too old, problems can arise when updating the hardware, which can make the entire firmware of the CSL DD inoperable.

If you get an error message when updating the base and notice a flashing blue LED (bootload mode) on the on / off switch, you must under no circumstances disconnect the base from the power or switch it off. Instead you just try to install the current driver software from the link above and restart the computer when prompted.

The Fanatec Updater should open automatically after the restart and install the desired firmware without you getting an error message. If this is also unsuccessful, try to get into the bootloader mode by holding the power button for at least 8 seconds. The LED should then flash blue and you could try to update the firmware again. When you press the power button, it is normal for the quick release to turn back and forth a little, this says nothing about the function of the base.

If you switched off the CSL DD while the firmware was being updated, it will very likely not be able to be switched back to bootload mode (press the power button for at least 8 seconds) and you will have to initiate an RMA with Fanatec Support.

You can reach this via your customer account under My Products and there under the CSL DD and Support.

Just fill in all the fields there and attach a small video at the end (max. 100Mb). The video should show that the CSL DD can no longer be started and can no longer be switched to bootloader mode.

Fanatec support will then contact you via email and explain everything else.

This information is based on my experience and may not lead to success in certain cases. I wish you all a nice evening and weekend

What will show up on my computer screen when the base is in bootload mode? What is bootload mode anyway? Nothing in the manual or did I miss something.

  • Bootloader mode allows firmware to be updated. Normally the update utilty automates the process of changing into this mode. It's mentioned in the manual. :-)

  • Interesting. I'm in a panic myself. 2 days ago, I suddenly started getting delayed shifts and button inputs from my Formula V2.5x wheel. I checked everything. The wheel kept warning me to update the firmware, even though it was already up to date. Through a messy series of attempts to manually check the firmware, the boot mode automatically engaged and prompted me with the "flash" driver page. I did this, successfully. Then, every time I turned it on it went into that mode, the wheel started vibrating, and wouldn't stop. I have initiated a service request with Fanatec but I am absolutely sick to my stomach that it's ruined somehow. There was absolutely no indicator of what caused the initial issue, and I only ended up messing with the firmware from what the wheelbase was prompting. Your post is the closest I could find to the issue I'm experiencing. Will be interesting to see if there is some way to reset my equipment without needing to ship it back. Meanwhile, I'm missing out on all my normal league racing, etc... because I just sold my TS300 after waiting a month to be sure my CSL DD was rock solid. Bad timing on my part I guess.

Sehr schade.
