  • Come on Fanatec, for goodness sake alreasdy, mail my base.
I'm dying here too. Seeing people that have gotten their base with the intention to not even use them until an X1 rim comes out doesn't help either..

    Me too.....me too

  • Morning,
I could test the base yesterday and the euphoria about the wheel was really fast gone.

I had none V1 so I cant tell something about the ForceFeedback, only its there!
Functionality is good, when you beat the bad manual :/
ATM I'm working on removing the wheel shaking on GT5/GT6 the solution in the FAQ didn't work

But this is all nothing againt this noisy exhaust fans that are killing my nerves.
They running the whole time on max. RPM
They even louder than the motor IMHO

I already ask the Support about that and really hope they have a solution for it.
If there is no solution I'll not keep it.

From such a expensive piece of tec, I expect more than this.

What wheel are you accustomed to that you hold in high regard? Not trying to be smart, am really curious as to what you would prefer over the v2? It seems the reception of the v2 base has been very positive all around. What rim are you using if mind me asking?

How have you tried to fix the wheel shake, specifically? Is it only during the straights or all the time? Have you tried testing different deadzones on the wheel and in-game? Have you tried any other game besides GT, a pc sim perhaps?

The CSR has an option to have the fan running all the time, or on/off depending if heat is becoming and issue. Possibly there will be the option for the v2 aswell.

Give it some practice and hopefully you can work out the issues you are having. Good luck!

    Hey,
I have no other favorit wheel.
I'm pretty new to this stuff. 3 year ago I bought a Logitech Driving Force GT to test if I like wheels anyway.

And I liked it and wanted to buy a Fanatec Porsche GT3 Wheel but PS4 was almost out and I dont want to buy 2 Wheels so I waited now approximately 2 year till they have a solution that works for PS4 too.

So I spend now a lot of money for some wheel which is not hitting full my expectations.

In the reviews I watched about the V2 there was always in the "Cons" that it would be Noisy.
I didn't mind that much, till I got it here and could test it by myself.

    And about the wheel shaking:
I'm using the BMW rim,its only on straights, its with all cars I tested.
Tried till now what the FAQ says, only thing that is left is the deadzone option I guess.
Like I said, working on it ;)
There are alot of options you can mix.

For PC I dont got any sim racing game. Simulations made no sense without a wheel.;)

Till now there is no option for the V2 to deactivate the fans.

And its not easy to change them its not a 80mm one, must be something between 70-75mm, it got also 24 Volts.
That all means that it will be not easy to find a good replacement

Dont understand me wrong, the wheel works really great.
I turned on the simulation option in GT6, this was unuasble in GT5 with a Logitech Driving Force :D
But now it works pretty nice and I'm also able to win.
With Controller its way more easier to win ;)

All what really bugs me is the fan noise, I cant turn the volume so high to beat the fan noise.

I suggest you get some nice noise cancelling headphones. I have the Sony Pulse Elite's and I can't hear anything outside of the game audio. Sometimes this ends up scaring the hell out of me when someone "sneaks" up behind me, yeah haha, you could probably run up and I still wouldn't hear until it's too late.

Anyway, I think something like that will definitely help you, and they are also nice for the immersion factor as I can turn up the bass/rumble in them which simulates engine/car vibration, wind blowing through your helmet, etc. It's works pretty sweet, imo.

The only other thing I can think of would be get some acoustic foam and wrap it around the base while leaving an opening for the rear fan? Idk lol, that seems a bit rediculous, nevertheless... :/

I hate to burst your bubble, but they haven't mentioned anything about PS4 compatibility aside from saying they have sought a license from Sony, but haven't come to an agreement yet. It could happen soon, it could take a while, or worst case scenario, not happen at all. Hopefully we find out either way sooner than later, the unknown is such an itch.

Fanatec hints durability was number one priority when creating this base. So hopefully replacing the fan, or any parts, shouldn't be an issue for some time, or will be handled under warranty if so.

I think you should give sim racing a try(iRacing, rFactor2, Assetto, etc). Especially now that you have such a nice piece of equipment to use with. They are really in a league of their own. :-bd

Let us know how that shaking issue goes, would like to know a solution as well, thanks.
  • Hello,

I'm from Germany and I've received my base, too. The driving test was ok for me.

But the back fan is a nogo for me too. It runs all the time, not at full Speed, but very noisy.

    Writing in the Manual:

"After calibration run the fans are completely stopped."

When I turn on the cold wheel, the left fan stopped, the back fan runs all the time at high speed.

Please can you fix it by a new Firmware, it's very nervous.

    Thanks!

Really strange my left fan is running at 100% the whole time even on start up.
The back one is running too, but not sure if its at the same noise.

Sometime the back one make some strange noises too, like its a cable in it.

Headphones are really not an option for me, i have a really expensive soundsystem which I would like to use ;)

PC Games are planned when I keep the wheel, till now I'm not 100% sure.

I have not problem with it to dam the whole base in the inside, that will help a lot too.
Aslong Fanatec will still get me the warranty for the wheel.
Same with fans, maybe there is somewhere 12V supply.

But atm there are to many maybes and I think it was expensive enough that it should be quiet too.

    Patrick,

I did some testing in GT5 and I found that no matter what deadzone changes I made if I ran the force feedback strength over 70% there was some wheel oscillation. Once I got it at 70% or lower the feel got a lot better. Changing the deadzone to 40 or 50 also helped.

All of this is just a limitation of the Gran Turismo games because they never bothered to support the Fanatec wheels.

Great news, I live in France ordered my v2 on 6 oct and just received my UPS tracking number.

    :D .

Now I need a Xbox One rim to enjoy it. Please Thomas let us make a pre order, I want to be ready for Pcars.

     Thank you fanatec team.

This would be a big reason for me to buy an Xbox 1 since I do have interest in Forza however then there is Driveclub that would interest me as well. Hmmm decisions?????

As for now for the casual title I am enjoying The Crew immensely and if anyone has interest to just drive any types of roads or off road and see the sights the game does not disappoint.

Anyway I have my additional code to give away for the NA webshop if anyone is interest first to PM me with your Fanatec member details(email) it's your

    Status: Still Open

  • PCars will also be on the PS4...oops no compatibility yet...LOL

I did today some testing too.
I tested the Formula rim, oh hell what a ride.
Even with 50% FF you got there so much power that its really hard to hold the rim.
With the BMW wheel you have less problems, cos you can hold it so much better.

I tested now a lot to reduce the shaking as much als possivble:
    1. Sen = 900
    2. Force : 50
    3. Lin = 10
    4.Dead = 20

With this setup the cars got a a bit left/right oscillating like a real car have at 120kmh ;)

BTW. the Logitech G25 Profile is compatible to the wheel!
There you can change the buttons to what ever you want on them.
Sadly the left joystick you still can't use :(

And I just got an email that in the new driver it gives a new firmware update which solves the fan problem.
I will now connect all to pc and make an firmware update.

  • Ignore that comment above. I can't delete it.

  • This is what I was going to say.
Have been reading with interest the discussion on fan noise. It peaked my curiosity. I had unboxed my V2 but with no wheel yet (waiting on the Xbox wheels to show), hadn't bothered to power it up. So, I just plugged it in. I have a digital Sound Pressure Meter. I pressed start, the unit went through calibration. High speed fan, running at 57dB. Once calibration completed, the fan dropped to low speed, SPL at 50-52 dB. My meter only reads down to 50 dB, and the readings dropped out several times. That indicates the SPL is below 50 dB.
For comparison, I checked the level on my CSR Elite. It is at 51-52.
That is very quiet. I'm sitting now at my PC, and the fan in the tower (sitting on the floor under my desk), reads 54 dB. Again, very quiet. So, I have no issues what-so-ever with the noise level. For those complaining about how loud their fan is, perhaps the fan you have is faulty, or out of balance. And from what I can gather, it drops to low speed after calibration. If you can get your hands on a SP meter, check your sound level. Anything below 55 is like you breathing.
  • I measure 54 dB at 1m after calibration. My CSW V1 was much quieter.

A normal conversation has 40-50 dB! The wheel is very noisy.

  • Actually Trevor is right at boot it's noisy and once it calibrates to fan slows and quiets and is not really noticeable. However for those that key in on back ground noise in life in general head phones will solve this

    Alrighty,
I upgraded my wheel some hours ago.
    No change!
Fans start running, and keep the whole time the speed and the noise.
I cant hear any changing in the speed.

Its seems like my base must be broken than. :(

Can you look how many wires the cables of the fans have? Mine got 2.
And I think the fans get speed controlled by PWM
Which would explain this strange noise they make.

Some fans dont like PWM and make with it more noise than normal.
  • You're right, the rear has 2 wires.

It's a simple voltage regulation without any speed Information, PWM has 4 wires.

When your fans don't reduce their speed after wheel calibration , I think then is something wrong.

    Check the Firmware update.

  • Pretty awesome piece of kit!
The build quality seems to be of high standard and it was all very nicely packaged like you would expect from hi-end expensive gear.

I received my CSW v2 with BMW rim two days ago.

Only had time for a brief introductory drive, but I am liking it very much so far! Great upgrade from my PWTS .
    Merry X-Mas Fanatec!

Does anyone know if the two RJ12 to female 8din connector cables, that come with the base, are included to use with the Thrustmaster TH8A gear shifter ? Seems so to me looking at TX base connection and the shifter.

I really would love to know, cause I like the TM better than the Fanatec shifter.
Anybody all ready has that setup ?

Agreed, Thorsten. It could be that the driver (firmware is included) "might" need refreshed to resolve the issue with the fan not slowing after calibration. That would be the first thing to try.  http://www.fanatec.com/us-en/wheel-bases/clubsport-wheel-base-v2-us.html#downloads

  • The manual, here, page 16, offers instructions on Driver update... http://www.fanatec.com/download/CSW-V2_Manual.pdf

It is for the clubsport pedals and older style CSR shifters
  • Then I'll take my chances with it. The pedal/shifter cable 2.5 meters also works with shifters that have DIN8 connector and says it'll work with CSW Base...
Buy myself a TH8A in store with return agreement if doesn't work!
  • I got mine yesterday but I can't make it work in PS3 Mode...

Ummm will someone tell him or will I ;)

I wish someone would tell me how to make the V2 work with my PS3 . I can't even navigate the PS3 menu with mine & have no steering or pedal input at all !? Works fine on my PC with no issues !

Thanks to all who help !

I'm assuming it's the exact same as the v1 base. PS3 mode is explained at 3:37

    Morning,
first you dont need 4 wires, 2 wires is enough.
PWM is a cheap method to reduce the speed of fans, but some fanes dont like it and make strange noises than.
Best way is to simply reduce the voltage.

And like I said, I have done the firmware upgrade
Its 065 on the wheel and still no changes on the fans.
