Can someone help, looking to purchase about £1,000 of gear to deliver to UK what will the cost be from the courier for duty and vat?

    20% VAT on the full price including the postage plus a £10.50 UPS handling fee. So going by your example £1000 you'd have £210.50 to pay at import.
