Cannot detect wheelbase using a USB extension cable.

I've recently purchased the CSL Elite Wheel PS4 Bundle. I installed the latest driver and everything works fine when connecting the wheel to the PC. However, I would like to put my setup in front of my TV which is approx. 5-6 meters from my PC. When using a 5 meter USB 3.0 extension cable with the include USB cable, I get the following message "USB Device not recognized: One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." In device manager I get Error Code 43.
Anyone had a similar issue and found a good solution? Does this simply mean the cable is too long as USB 2.0 spec states it goes up to 5 meters? If so, what are alternative ways to establish a proper connection?
Many thanks.

It is probably too long. If you have a powered USB hub (one that has an AC adapter also) it might get you some additional range.
USB extension issue. USB3 can be unstable so you would either need a longer USB 2.0 cable or hub.
You'll need a repeater. I use one on the USB3 for the Oculus to connect to my PC that's about 8-10 meters away along the walls.
