DD+ Connection with Wheel Problem.
DD+ connection with steering wheel does not always work. Firmware is new. I have to restart the base more often. Everything is fine when there is a connection!

On my DD1 with the 455 driver and my podium hub. I have to attach it and power it on to make it work. If i Change wheels back and forth eventually it can't detect different wheels and has to be powered off and then on again. As long as I don't use the podium hub it's fine.
Is that similar to what you are experiencing? Once it detects the wheel does it work? or does it lose connection when you get racing?
I've been waiting for a new driver for some time now in hopes of figuring out if my hub is broken or if it's a driver issue.
I was expecting a new driver when the DD+ shipped.
Which steering wheel?
Podium Button Module Endurance
It works as soon as the wheel is recognised
I have now tried it with another Podium Hub same problem. Firmware also new.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I'm annoyed. DD pro never had problems
Do you have any other wheels to try? For example. My Universal Hub has no issues. My RS wheel has no issues etc. Just Podium Hub. Not sure it's the same issue, but your description has me wondering. I just haven't used Podium since QR2 released. Thats when my issue started.
But i also have BMR so that is why i upgraded drivers.
Same here with my CS DD, but only with F1 eSports Wheel V2. I have to wait up to 2 minutes for it to be recognized or I have to unplug and plug it then it works.
I think it's a WQR Power Problem. When the steering wheels need more voltage during booting then the WQR Chip can't work. All other steering wheels works fine. Fanatec must accept that there is a problem here and must fix this problem without treating us as isolated cases. They can no longer ignore this error.
I've been fighting since 2 months to finally be able to drive without problems and I finally want to have a working base.
That sounds very plausible to me.I was also thinking of something like that.
Is there a difference in the reliability of the wheel detection between those two scenarios:
Would be interesting if the issue is maybe exclusive ore more likely to one of both
yes, it's one of the both.
When I first connect it to the base and then boot it up, the wheel is not recognized (QR Version shows. 0.0.0.0). If I wait about 2 minutes it mysteriously gets recognized (QR Version jumps from 0.0.0.0 to 1.0.0.3.
When the Base is already startet without wheel (QR Version at start 1.0.0.3) and then attaching the wheel, it works fine!! everytime.
I have tested a second F1 eSports V2 Wheel too but same problem.
Here my video files, Booting up with attached wheel and without atteched wheel:
F1_Dont_Recognized.zip
6.37 MB
I hope it helps to locate the error.
On the firmware side, isn't it possible to enable the 5+ voltage later after the WQR chip boots up? Then maybe it would work.
On my second base CLS Elite PS4 Base it works alltimes with same wheel and both methods.
If you have a beta driver I would test it to resolve this issue. I'm not the only one, some other users have the same problem.
I was hoping this post would catch your attention. :)
I have the same problem with WQR firmware. It shows 0.0.0.0 when the steering wheel is not recognised. If it is recognised 1.0.0.3
It's really strange, do you think it's a hardware or software problem? 🤦♂️
For me it's a hardware issue because the voltage for the WQR is too low when booting up if you have a steering wheel that needs more power. But at the same time it can possibly be solved by firmware if the voltage to the steering wheel is only released when the WQR module is initialized. Only Fanatec can solve this. If the power voltage cannot be controlled with base firmware, the only solution is to replace the wheelbase and opening a RMA Ticket.
Due to manufacturing tolerances, it may work on some cs dd devices and the problem will not occur.
A complete disaster really. I agree with your opinion. I have already opened a ticket with support but have not yet received any response or confirmation. I will wait and hope for an answer.
Thank you for your contribution
I have the exact same problem. I got two wheels and both are often not detected. I have to turn off/on a few times before getting detected.
Screen remains off and both Fanalab and Fanatec control panel don't detect both wheels.
So this is interesting/frustrating, I installed my DD+ yesterday and my Podium Hub works fine on DD+ so far. I thought it was maybe broken and I had been waiting for Driver 456 to verify that it was broken when i tried on my DD1.
Exactly I hope there will be a remedy soon. Unfortunately, the support team has not yet been able to respond.
As I understood it from you. If your DD+ works without steering wheel recognition problems, then I wouldn't update it for the time being. Who knows, maybe it's a software error after all.
Not sure. I already had 455 installed from my DD1 so I did update firmware for the DD+ from that. All is well so far. But I don't have a lot of hours on it yet.
My DD1 Had the same issues as you with the Podium Hub with the Button Rally Module. And without. For me this all seemed to be Podium Hub related. And not the Module.
My DD+ does not have any issues with Podium Hub.
I do not have Endurance Module, but I understand that has all kinds of issues for a lot of people.
Thanks, I've added the provided info to our issue tracking.
thank you! that sound good! I hope that the problem can finally be solved with a new firmware without replacing the hardware.
Yes, that would be nice 👍
I wanted to switch on the base today and now nothing works. Switching on is no longer possible. It's really frustrating with the DD+😖
Hello, does someone has an update on this topic.
I still have to turn on/off a couple of times before my wheel (base always got detected) get detected...
The only thing I can tell you is that my base has now completely broken after exactly this problem.
WOW WOW WOW
With Driver 456, my F1 eSports V2 is now recognized at any time during cold start (with attached wheel) or when plugged in after startup! Tested with two F1 eSport Wheels V2 and started the base more than 10 times and now it is recognized every time!!
THANK YOU FANATEC !!! You have fixed the problem! What was the issue? what has caused it?
My RMA can be closed because this issue!
Now I have the perfect base that works fine!
@Rüdiger Neumann I'm sorry for you. He was a known bug, that bircking the base if you push the power button during booting up.
"He was a known bug, that bircking the base if you push the power button during booting up."
Incorrect! As I told you several times, this is NO known issue! It was investigated and could not be reproduced on several different units on different PCs, So it is a hardware issue of some specific units and not a known widespread mass issue.
Ah ok, sorry for that.
But how can I find out that my hardware does not belong to this specific units? Now I'm worried that my base might also have this error. I thought, this was a firmware issue.
Not possible to test if you dont want to risk your now perfectly running base. Just let the base finish the boot and wait for the USB connection (4 seconds after boot) and you are fine to press the power button again to switch base modes.
