GT2 mid corner notchiness

After playing about 20-30 minutes my Fanatec GT2 starts to get really notchy mid-corner. It's almost like it is sticking and the resistance is spiking. Is this something that can be repair with a little DIY maintenance or do I need to send it somewhere to get repaired?

    Does it happen in all games? Do the cooling fans come on around the time that it happens?

    I will check another game within the next day or so. I believe the fans are always on.
