There has been no official confirmation from Sony on compatibility with this generation hardware. They have only confirmed game compatibility at this point.
Microsoft were pushing to make everything (quote "you could drive using a dance mat controller") compatible with Forza on PC and head of Xbox Phil Spencer said that the newest Elite Controllers (still for Xbox One /S/X) will work the next Xbox.
It would make Sony look pretty bad if they made people buy new wheels and fight sticks again. Also their excuse "encryption safety(!), so only verified and licensed products work on PS" is nonsense by this month when non-PS-licensed mice will be compatible with the newest Call of Duty on PS4.
My personal guess: 85% pro "PS4 wheels will work on PS5".
For PS4 players we need an official confirmation of compatibility with PS5 if Fanatec wants us to buy their products. I will buy a complete one, but only when Fanatec ensures that its products will be compatible with PS5.
