what to buy ... Laptop
Hi Guys,
have a question.
I just started Sim Racing an the only thing i need is to buy a new computer for Iracing.
my sim setup for now is:
- Fanatec SWX V2.5
- Fanatec F1 steeringwheel e-sports
- Fanatec V3 pedals
I want to start with this and if i like it i wil upgrade to a DD an perhaps heusinkveld pedals. I will start with playing on my samsung curved but later i might go for a ultra wide screen or 3 27inch screens.
But now for my computer; For me it would be better to have a Laptop than a Desktop, because i don't have a workstation. For this pc i mostly use only for Iracing because for my daily use i use my macbook pro.
So preference is laptop
So i did some research and wanted to discus this with you what is should by.
1st question:
Can i go for a laptop instead of a dekstop?
2nd question:
The Laptop models i am thinking about are: (these because my it specialist deliver these)
- HP Pavillion gaming 17 - cd0700nd - I7 9750H/2,6GHz, 16GB ram , 256 GB SSD NVMe +1 TB HDD, GF GTX 1660Ti
- Omen by HP - 17-cb0600nd - I7 9750H/2,6GHz, 16GB Ram, 512 GB SSD NVMe, GF RTX 2060
or desktop:
- HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0375nd - I7 9700F/3GHz, 16GB Ram, 256 GB NVMe + 1 TB HDD, GF RTX 2060
- OMEN Obelisk by HP - 875-1400nd - I7 9700F/3GHz, 16GB Ram, 512 GB SSD NVMe +1 TB HDD, GF RTX 2060
What do you think about these models and are they strong enough to play Iracing on mid to high settings at least?
Thanks!!!
Comments
I don't play iRacing, so take my comments with a grain of salt - though as I understand it's very scalable and not a very demanding title. You should get really high performance out of the desktop 2060 models, dependant on the resolution want to play at. Those models should give you 120+ frames at 1080p. The laptops are a little different, and unless you really need a workstation/gaming all in one I wouldn't recommend it. The 1660ti mobile and 2060 mobile are fairly similar with the 2060 having ray tracing capabilities being the primary difference - though the performance is not as good as the desktop versions though. They should both give you good performance though resolution will be a large factor I'd imagine.
Also you could probably build a better machine that suits your needs for less money. Hope that helps.
