BMW steering wheel not being fully detected

My 2.5 wheelbase detects it for steering but not the paddle shifters nor any of the buttons - nor is there any LED readout. The wheelbase works perfectly with my formula carbon wheel so I know the base isn't the problem.

What could the matter be?
