I’m assuming your playing on PC. Some feel that the pedals function more smoothly when connected by USB. Another possible plus could also be, you wouldn’t need to disconnect the RJ12 and connect USB when you want to do updates for the pedals in the future. Possible downside if you could look at it as a downside, you just need to make sure that your USB ports function properly and don’t have any power saving settings which would turn them off after a period of time.
