Damper crunchy/crumply sound

Hey guys,

I just bought some V3i pedals, have been using the brake without damper.

Thought I would try the damper, as soon as I increased the resistance I started hearing crunchy noises from the damper. More when I turn the resistance up higher.

I noticed though if I work the pedal continually for like 30 seconds it mostly goes away, and also the damper gets a bit smoother.

I applied some lithium grease just to be safe, but still the same.

Is this a normal function of a hydraulic damper? I guess under normal racing conditions where you are constantly applying brake this would be a non issue, but wanted to hear if anyone with some mechanical knowledge could explain.

Thanks!
