Generic USB Handbrake to Fanatec handbrake input on wheelbase

I adapted a Chinese 14bit hall sensor handbrake to Fanatec handbrake input RJ12. It does not work. Fanatec probably expects another axis. Where to rewire it or how to write a custom firmware to the Arduino Leonardo, the Chinese handbrake´s controller board? There is open source custom firmware for using the remaining inputs for additional buttons. No, buy a Fanatec handbrake is not a valid answer for this question.
