Trying to mount clubsport V3 inverted

With the thin clearance on either side of the far left mounting screw, I'm wondering as to how I would possibly mount these clubsport V3 inverted pedals to my plate. The clearance is too small for me to fit my fingers and put a nut on it if I were to screw it in from the bottom. Are we supposed to use that screw whole above the plate to drop a screw in with a magnetic Allen/hex key?
