Reassemble pedal rod

Has anyone ever removed & reinstall the pedal rod/middle rod on their V3's?
I removed the red screw by the throttle in the middle and now I'm having a hard time aligning it to screw it in.
Any advice?

That square rod is also the pedal stop.
Most likely the rod is bowing a bit in the center of it causing the holes not to line up.
You might need to have another set of hands help you hold the rod up while trying to line up the screw holes.
