Gran Turismo DD feels „notchy“

Hi everyone,
hope I‘m describing it in an understandable way. With the Granturismo DD I bought my first DD wheel, and also my first Fanatec product.
I‘ve had a TM 300 RS for a short time before, and I was under the impression that a DD wheel feels 100% smooth. Like in a real car, basically.
But I feel „notchiness“, for example when the wheel is completely turned off. When I then turn it slowly, I can feel it (not as bad as a belt- or gear-driven wheel) resisting, snapping (for lack of a better word) into position every 0,5 cm or so.
It is super minor, but I always thought a DD wheel doesn‘t have that.
would love to hear the opinion from more experienced users.
thanks guys

That's 100% normal. It goes away when the base is powered on.
Not really, no. It‘s the same wether turned on or off.
That's still normal and the way a Direct Drive Motor is working with the Magnets inside.
When the magnets activate with decent effect, you can't feel them anymore.
If you have "notchy" FFB and don't like it, increase INT for a more "rubbery" sensation.
If you want to replicate your own real-life car, you need to go wild with the tuning menu since FFB systems generally don't replicate that. (Regular cars feel numb and don't compensate for lack of G-forces lost when static in front of a monitor.)
Thanks for your reply.
I actually don‘t mean the FFB, but just in general turning the wheel. When it‘s off, or when you‘re not in a game.
Is a DD wheel always like that?
Yes a DD wheel is always like that, it's the typical characteristic of them. It's the same on Podium DD
That doesn't sound right. I don't need any electrical tape or grease to make it perfectly tight, robust or smooth. And if you do use grease, it's a bad idea to mix petroleum products with plastic.
And once again, when the wheelbase is on and the FFB is active, you shouldn't feel the spacing between the magnets since the force fields negate each other.
I'd contact customer service if I were you.
If you literally have all the settings on your base turned all the way up, things are definitely going to feel strange. Try checking the forums here for whichever game you're playing, and start by using the recommended settings that are posted, both for your base and in-game.
