In Dakar 18, my CSL Elite 1.1 turns hard right when I alt-tab out of the game

Whenever I alt-tab out of Dakar 18 while paused during a stage, my CSL ELite 1.1/CS F1 Esports wheel goes crazy - it suddenly turns hard right and keeps trying to turn at the stop, until I alt-tab back into the game. When I return to the game, the wheel returns to normal.

Has anyone else run into this? How can I fix this?
