F1 2020 wheel handles on F1 v2 wheel.

As in the title, is it possible to replace the haldles of the F1 v2 wheel with the ones fitted on the brand new F1 2020 wheel it they are available as a replacement parts?

Comments

  • They are identical, so would fit, but it's unlikely that they will be sold separately.

  • Why do you think so? It's another way to make money, if there are a sufficient number of requests?

Anyway they should have a certain number of replacement parts fo the owners of the F1 2020 wheel.

  • Yes, I would like to buy new spare handles for my Formula V2 as well. I hope it become part of the store on the website. And I am sure many will buy it.

  • I asked to Fanatec support and they told me that a replacement is only for the F1 2020 steering wheel owners, so I asked for a spare part handles for my V2 wheel in order to have a new ones now and avoid a future “no availability” of the parts when the wheel became a “no more available” item. The reply was that they send me the handles only if mine are worn and I have to prove it with a pics because they “can only offer spare parts in case of defects/malfunctions or if the grips have worn already”.

    That’s Incredible. I’m very disappointed.

  • After 2 years driving the inside of my thumb joints are getting callused from the hard and unyielding alcantara. I don't want to wear gloves. I asked Support if I could buy the V2.5 replacement leather grips. But I just received the stock answer:

"Unfortunately, it is not possible to purchase spare parts that were not originally part of the product.

This is due to company policy.

Because of this, we can not sell you leather handgrips unfortunately, only replacement alcantara grips."

I've since read a post 8 months ago that the new V2.5 grips are not real leather:

"I have both.....the new V2 with faux leather is .......very faux leather and super slippery like plastic." (I assume new V2 is actually the V2.5).

The Fanatec website claims for the V2.5:

"Grips made of genuine smooth leather, perforated for improved breathability". Is that actually true?? Is it real leather??

I think Fanatec are being a bit two faced about this If I buy a wheel with basic paddles, I can purchase the APM later and convert:

"Replace the ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module with the Podium Advanced Paddle Module (optional) for additional inputs and analogue paddles. The exchangeable quick release means this wheel is ready for the transition to the all-new QR2 system (coming soon)."

Which rather goes against the "Unfortunately, it is not possible to purchase spare parts that were not originally part of the product.".

Looks like I'll have to learn how to wrap my grips with real leather!!

  • Thanks. 2 options buy new V2.5/sell V2. Or learn to stretch/wrap real leather and recover grips.

That old adage - "If you want something done, do it yourself". I now have a trial piece of leather soaking.
