New DD Wheel Base 5Nm Shutdown after 1 Hour of Playing
Hey guys,
Today i installed my new DD Wheel Base and after one hour of just making settings and testing them in TimeTrial (F1 23) the Base shutted down. Red LED off. The green LED on the power supply were still on. After that i touched the back of the Base and it were quite hot and a little bit smelly - i let it cool down for an hour plugged out. If im now turning the Base on, its calibrating forever/restarts the process by itself. If im lucky and it gets the calibrating done, it shuts down again after 2-5 min just standing still.
I contacted the support but if any of you got the same problem or can me help what to do, let me know

i talked about this in previous post, that thing comes from this badly cooled big white power resistor, it heats devise inside soo hot that it auto shuts down
so whats the solution / best to do ?
one solution is try add the left side the ventilator so it could get there fresh air what is not that hot
this thing like run PC cpu without cooler
Contact Fanatec Technical Support, to obtain an RMA for your defective unit.
you send them a device and they tell all is ok?
they will open back panel and look inside, at that point it already starts get better cooling. and they not see any issue with that .
also this is typed they manual
The recommended operation time with continuous force feedback activity is 1 hour.
Dealing with Fanatec assistance could be difficult and take a long time, but new defective units are always replaced, sooner or later. Most of the time sooner. Fanatec support horror stories are true, but fortunately they are not the norm. No one uses a fan to cool Fanatec wheelbases. Write politely and everything will be fine. Or if you're still in the 15 day window, you can ask for a full refund.
Thank you Alessandro, yeah its not normal with a vent, the fact that im now (after on day of letting the base cool down) turning the base on and it shutts down after 2 mins of just standing still and not even using it...i already contacted the support about the problem, seems like i have to wait a bit longer for an response
I bought a reusable freezer packs and a small desktop fan. Rest the pack close to the base and blow the fan over it. Issue fixed for about 20 bucks!
if you say so about this vent, but this resistor self is so wrong place that in long usage it would may start melt down the solder and after that it burns something out. in your case damage is already made as now it not even able run anymore over 3 min
they just could add that thing inside one off the empty holes, the cheapest solution would be the bottom one,
because then they need include only one wire and another could just go straight to board
this could easily avoid over heating in long term usage but some-reason they not todo this
You are not alone here, I just got my Fanatac CSL DD 5Nm, 1hour of use, come back to use it the next night. Won't power on, power brick light is on and not detected by the PC. Still waiting for the first response from Fanatec and can't say the contact form only way of conversing with them fills me with confidence.
Sorry guys, I'm waiting like many others for my order to arrive, but I'm already starting to worry... DO ALL CSL DD 5NM HAVE THIS PROBLEM?
it could be that this issue more pops up at 8nm
