GT Extreme Wheel. Screen randomly freezing, RPM lights not working, other issues
I recently got a DD+ Extreme bundle with the wheel and I've run into few issues, regardless of the game I am using.
Using Maurice's DD+ profiles in Fanalab.
Randomly (sometimes sooner, sometimes later in race), the screen on the Extreme wheel gets stuck and the RPM LED's stop working. This is usually the more common occurrence.
Sometimes, the gear shift doesn't work either, as if the whole wheel froze or something. But this has only happened like twice.
In either case, Disconnecting and connecting the wheel doesn't do anything.
I have to Shut the whole base down and restart it and reload the profile in Fanalab, now the lights/screen works but not fully. The RGB lights on the sticks don't change to what they're set in profile. Only top left is lit Orange color. If I change one of them in Fanalab, then they all come back.
Faulty wheel? software issues with Fanalab (v2.01.26) or drivers? Firmware? is this a known issue or do I need to RMA the wheel?
Comments
That's a known Firmware issue and currently under investigation.
Next firmware will have a possible fix included which would need to be verified by the users, at least internally the Freezes were much improved.
Does this happen on the PS5 playing GT7 as well? Or is it a Windows PC issue?
It is a firmware issue which happens everywhere.
Does it happen with other wheels besides the one which comes with DD extreme?
Every wheel.
Should I stay on the firmware that comes with the DD Extreme (DD+ base as well) and wait for the 456 driver? Or should I update immediately? I just received it the other day and haven’t played with it yet.
It happens with every firmware which was ever available.
Upgrade to 456 immediately and give the potential fix a try.
Thank you for the advice. I didn’t notice that driver 456 was just released.
Just note that this still happens. After playing GT7 for abt 45 mins, the wheel froze (display frozen and buttons don’t work). This is my first real day using the dd extreme and I ran into the issue.
456 driver/firmware update AND complete removal/reinstall of Fanalab seems to have fixed screen and RPM LED's issues.
However, new issue. I have had maybe 5-6 disconnects of wheel from base in 2 days while in a race (ACC and iRacing). This happened to both Extreme Wheel and Formula 2.5x. Total loss of power to wheel and FFB also stops working.
Removing and reinstalling wheel does nothing. Only solution is to completely turn off base, and restart it. Sometime also have to close/leave game for FFB to start working again.
Have there been reports of this for DD+ on 456 drivers/firmware?
I think it is software issue, not hardware because turning off and turning on base fixes it. If it was hardware, then simple reboot would not fix it right?
Same here. Twice in GT7, once in ACC, each since I upgraded the firmware from the 456 drivers. Had to stop playing until they fix it.
I just got the dd+ extreme bundle
since I plugged to the pc to do the update, my wheel is not showing up into the fanalab or the other one
i did the update and nothing
can somebody help me
I waited for a month for this to get here and now I can’t play on my ps5
