Shifter issues, non-responsive Fanatec support!
I have been trying to get a response from support without luck. They sent me a list of stuff to do related to my shifter issue, I finished everything and responded and now 2 weeks later nothing. I am left with a $250 paperweight and a non-functional rig.
Basically my issue is while shifting into 1st and 3rd the shifter randomly registers Reverse causing an instant crash destroying my race or lap time. Here is my response to Fanatec support with links to all the videos of the issue and a list of everything they asked me to do that I did. I am at wits end now. What is up with this company?
The following was performed as instructed. Noting I already also added ferrite filters to cables as well a while ago.
1. Uninstalled fanatec drivers
2. updated windows
3. updated nvidia drivers
4. checked for windows updates again
5. downloaded fanatec 455
6. disabled virus protection
7. installed fanatec drivers
8. rebooted
9. recalibrated H-shifter
10. loaded assetto corsa
11. drove 1 lap, ISSUE persisted. went into reverse instead of first see: https://youtube.com/shorts/SFE8py8QYhM
12. closed assetto
13. loaded assetto again
14. drove 1 lap. ISSUE persisted. went into reverse instead of 3rd see: https://youtube.com/shorts/UmOc4GwwIAs
15. closed assetto again
16. loaded assetto
17. drove 1 lap. ISSUE persisted. went into reverse instead of 3rd see: https://youtu.be/6xJQMqJQPVA

You simply have to remove the top cover of the gearbox by unscrewing the 4 screws. Be careful when lifting it, because it is connected to an electrical cable.
Then reassemble it, without doing anything. You will see that the problem is solved. But only temporarily, it will return within a few months.
I suppose when the lid is up you have to touch the inside a little with your finger, to electrostatically discharge it, for the trick to work.
Fanatec declared insolvency. Customer service has never been efficient, but for about a year, response times have been measured in months, rather than weeks.
I had this shifter. I had these issues.
I cleaned the PCB's every 3 months or so with 99 percent Alcohol and a toothbrush.
And I ground the shifter with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093BN9LWL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Solve my issues for 3-8 months at a time.
