New to fanatec. Could use some advice on kit I'm looking at

Hey all. Hope it's ok to ask here but new to fanatec and looking for upgrade after t300 wheel died.

I'm considering a bundle from private seller that includes

  • DD Pro (we're have ps5) with 8nm kit
  • Club sports v2 hub
  • R300 rim
  • CSL pedal
  • Load cell pedal
  • Qr1 quick release

My question is how the wheels work. So for example if my boys wanted the F1 eSports V2 wheel in the future, does this go onto the V2 hub?

Given this will cost about £500 are there any components that are outdated or would be recommended against? Just general thoughts really?

Any advice welcome

Thanks

  • The F1 rim has its own Quick release and button and paddle features, so is independant. You would have 2 complete wheel sets

The QR1 is the original quick release system, with a base side component and the wheel side component. The QR2 system replaces that w an improved mechanical connection.

So if acquiring any additional wheels, the new wheel would have to match what you already would have. Upgrade kits for both base and wheel can be purchased. The QR2 is better but not essential to get started. But future Fanatec products will move to QR2 as the primary connection, so important to check what comes w any future purchase

The CSL pedals are the basic set up but the load cell is a key feature for any pedal set. Good but over time you may want to upgrade them

The DD Pro 8nm is a solid starting point - I’ve had one and liked it but later upgraded to a DD+ for more power but more expensive

Seems like a good way to get started unless you wanted to put that 500 towards a higher spec setup - but that heading towards 2K

The wheels and pedals carry forward if you upgrade later

  • Thanks!

So if I got the hub and basic wheel I could in theory sell them once we upgraded to F1 wheel?

Assuming there's market for them? Or do people mostly buy the all in one wheels?

Yeah you could sell it or keep it depending on your style of racing. Don’t know if you’d get a lot for it.

I have both a round wheel and an F1 wheel and change them according to the type of car for more immersion - quick release makes it conveneint and you can hot swap them - no need to shut the game or base down

The hub allows mounting a variety of rims w the std bolt patterns, but may not offer a control layout to your preference as a fixed setup might.
