Good morning, I have just installed a qr2 (wheel side + base side type c) on my gt ddpro, but impossible to lock the steering wheel, it blocks before the qr2 can lock. a solution? THANKS

You try to mount it upside down. Rotate the QR 180 degrees and it will fit.
Hello, I don't understand because it is not possible to mount it upside down because of the connection of the steering wheel pins.
Please post pictures, otherwise I think nobody can help you as it's not really possible to understand what you did wrong without being able to see it.
I did the assembly following the instructions, here are some photos of the problem, thank you
Look closely at the Pins. The blank space is the bottom of the QR2 Wheel Side. Which should match the Base Side you posted a photo of. The photo's a little confusing because it's upside down. But I would take the QR2 off and then test fit just the QR2 on your base.
BTW. If the QR2 fit on the base before installing the wheel. The only thing I can think could cause this is that the bottom side of the QR2 Wheel Side was assembled off by 180 degrees. But I don't know if those four bolts are offset to prevent that.
2 socked holes seems little damaged, but image is not a best quality soo can't see correctly
Indeed I think that the side base is upside down, is there a mounting direction for the side base on the dd pro?
If I mount the qr2 upside down on the steering wheel it locks well, but I can no longer put the screws on the steering wheel. The steering wheel is a new clubsport RS
Did you bought this QR2 wheel side from Fanatec?
yes i bought everything from fanatec
It looks like the QR itself might be made upside down. If you squeeze it to move the locking bars out and look deep inside you should see the top corners being more rounded than the bottom ones that have a smaller curve radius. Is that the case for your QR?
Here's the picture of a 3rd party QR2 that mounts correctly. See that the top's inside curvature has a slightly bigger radius than the bottom's one
If we compare this picture of yours:
With this picture of mine, you shouldn't be able to fit the QR2 base side all the way into the QR2 wheel side:
Is your picture showing inserting it upside down?
With correct everything, there should be no groves in the base side visible from the side.
Here's another 3rd party QR2 mounted to the F-type QR2 from the DD+ base.
Do you have another wheel that mounts to your base OK?
Looks like concensus is a QR2 assembled 180 off.
Option 1
Return your QR2 back to Fanatec and wait 2~4 weeks before you get a replacement.
Option 2
Take 5 minutes to correct it yourself (If not a machining error). Just be careful of the spring not ejecting parts in your eyes or losing any small parts on the floor.
I believe the only thing that is removable is the collar and bars/springs, but flipping that won't fix anything. And the mounting plate and the thing that seats on the shaft of the base is just one whole piece (it is on my QR, but I can't be sure about the original from Fanatec). Which begs the question of how was it even possible to manufacture it flipped that way at the factory?
And I also like the "QC pass T01" sticker, that was a nice touch!
There is a Reddit post on some of the first AE QR2's upside down. I recently got 9 and they all fit perfectly.
PS How are you getting the QR flange bolts off your DD+ ? I saw a tool included with the Fanatec shaft extension but no need for one.
yeah, the original is also one piece
A 4mm allen wrench does the job. There's blue thread-lock applied to the bolts, so you might need some leverage to start them out and also something to keep the shaft from rotating
Hello, thank you for all your explanations.
I tried with another steering wheel and it doesn't work either.
I also think it was mounted upside down, that's the only explanation, here's a picture of the inside.
I am not sure if you have a bad wheel side or base side issue. I would personally return it for a new one.
But here's a video of it opened up: https://youtu.be/sjHaUDA2pL0?t=314
those are most likely assembled manually in china factory, it may happen sometimes i guess, depends how they check those
by default it seems like you to can self open that and turn it around. it should be not that complex by look that video
there was in this forum also that user told steering wheel screws was open, something like this would also not allow push in the quick release
it's not in your case but issues like this sometimes happen
In this photo, it looks upside down. I mean the side with smaller curvature radius that should mate with the base's bottom is on the top.
Is this really an original Fanatec QR2? There were indeed some Chinese clones that were made incorrectly and nothing could be done about them as it's one whole machined (or molded) piece that is made wrong, so ignore the useless comment above
there are in market indeed also the clones. but it does look like original
at-least the latest QR2 what i get from fanatec does have exact same sticker
the older ones had different ones
I wasn't asking you as you obviously wouldn't know the true origin of the OP's QR2
dude, i was one off the first ones who buy fanatec QR2 last year. and they to have different sticker
different sticker may mean also that they use different factory, what may made mistake
but if user claims that he buy that from fanatec, then he needs send it back, because off i looked closer and user cant todo self much
i was little distracted with my podium hub what i buy and get finally today, i looked little wrong
