CSL DD Very weak FFB after firmware update. How do I manually load firmware.
Hi,
So my CSL DD was working fine yesterday. Did a firmware and driver update today and noticed the FFB is very weak, I mainly use iRacing. I have turned the levels up in iRacing but even with them almost double what I use normally the turning resistance is extremely weak. Dirt rally 2 also feels weak.
I have tried uninstalling fanalab and fanatec driver. Then deleting Fanatec devices in device manager and done a reinstall of new driver. I tried different USB cables & Ports.
in the Fanatec software I see there is an option for manual firmware update, which warns advanced only. I cant seem to find firmware files needed or info online of how to do this, I don't want to attempt this without correct info.
Im also wandering if this is a problem caused by firmwware/driver update or maybe a fault that just happened coincidently at the same time. So ideally I would like to try manual Firmware update just to see. Also wandered if it could be a faulty PSU.
Thanks

Hi Linz! Sorry to hear about the issues with your CSL DD after the update. It sounds like you’ve done a thorough job troubleshooting so far. Weak FFB could be tied to the firmware update, driver configuration, or potentially a hardware issue, like the PSU. Manual firmware updates are advanced and require the correct files, which are typically included in the driver package downloaded from the Fanatec website. If you decide to proceed with a manual update, make sure to carefully follow the instructions provided in the Fanatec Control Panel.
Given the steps you’ve already taken, it might also be worth testing the base on another PC, if possible, to rule out software conflicts. If the issue persists, it could indicate a hardware problem, and reaching out to Fanatec support would be the best course of action to ensure the issue is resolved effectively. We hope this helps and that you can get your gear back to full power soon. Let us know how it goes!
Thanks for reply.
It is out of warranty so I hope it is not a hardware issue. I think next step is manual firmware update, I have downloaded the latest driver package and don't see any files for manual Firmware update. There is a PDF which says "The firmware manager will guide you through all necessary steps" I have tried running it then it gets to a screen asking for a file with "default" in the box. Not clear what to do and I really don't want to proceed without more info.
happy NYE
Make sure ffb is set to peak and not linear in the driver control panel?
Thanks, yes ive checked that
So Fixed it, I managed to manually update firmware bit it was still the same.
The issue was the shaft and USBc not making great connection. Many threads on this, I loosened the collar, re inserted shaft and tightened to 15nm
