V3 Brake Pedal with CSL DD

I have had v3 pedals for around 2 years and not had an issue. The first set (second hand from a mate) broke so I bought a new set to replace about a year ago now.

In the last couple of months I've had an issue that when the pedals are connected via the wheel base, the brake pedal will flicker activating the brake randomly during a race. Some times it wont happen, some times it will happen to the point i have to quit.

I can use the pedals vis USB and the issue doesn't occur. So I will continue to do so as it is just smart.

What can I look for? I'm assuming its a fault in the wheel base but now I'm worried what else will start to fail in the wheel base and starting to think what's next.
