CS DD knocking Sound from the Wheelsbase
So, about two weeks ago i got my CS DD and since them, i was happy with this great Base and started to experience the Power and georgeus Feedback these Base provides.
But yesterday during a longer run in ACC on Spa i realized that there was a strange Feeling in the Wheel. A Feeling that there is something moving Inside the Base what normally shouldnt move.
I took off my headphones and it was clearly to hear that something is knocking Inside the Base.
These knocking Sounds can easily be reproduced cause It happens only in two specific positions of the wheel/shaft.
If i turn the Wheel from middel Position for about 15 Degres to the left, it knocks Inside the Base. If i turn the Wheel from the middel for about 40-45 Degres to the right the same sound as double knocking appears. You can turn the Wheel for 360 degres and if you reach one of these specific positions again you can hear these knocking Sounds. It dont matters if the Base is switched on or off.
I Think it's time for an RMA, or is there anything i can do from my side at first.
Some Basic Dates:
Wheel Base: CS DD
WB-FW: 2.0.1.3
WQR-FW: 1.0.0.3

That ios a clear hardware issue of the steering axis shaft.
Contact the support to get your base repaired / exchanged.
Thanks for you´r quick reply Maurice (especially on a sunday) 👍️
I will contact technical support to discuss how to proceed.
in my book,
this is a 7 or 8 case
a bit too much for German perfectionism or the Chinese don't know how to assemble the device
or the driver is not set properly, so you first customers are now working for Fanatec developers and testing.
oh Fanatec
Sounds like there’s also some coil whine. Definitely RMA.
what?
what what
He's basically saying you're using your customers as beta testers.
Ahaaa.
And tbh, I was a huge supporter of Fanatec. As an european customer, I've always praised german companies, but I am deeply shocked by how all this has turned out to be.
Especially your last mention about, quote :"Known hardware issue of a lot of bases" (1500 euros base, you know what I'm saying), that are still being sold without any kind of warning on the official website.
That's not how business should work and I'm pretty sure (and that makes me sad) that Fanatec will pay the consequences on the short/middle term if your company doesn't elevate her own expectations.
Simagic, Asetek, Moza, VRS, Simucube are in the place now, they're aggressive and your reputation is declining.
I'm sad, but yeah...
I don't know if you guys have employees dedicated to online networking (Reddit, FB groups, etc, basically everwhere where the reputatino happens), but if you do, just have a look. It's not going well, at all.
And the huge amount of sales you've made recently will not suffice on the middle-term :)
that's how it was with every base so far at the beginning. a bunch of problems.
German technology, which is usually extremely precise and perfectionist, should not behave like that
I agree 100 %.
It's not German technology though. It's german designing, but Chinese production.
Be rest assured, it's still the case with old and supposedly well known bases.
"Germaneering" is the term they use on their "About us" page.
I have a Fanatec product at home, and when I first got the box in my hands, I turned it over and saw that it says Made in China.
and said, wtf Germans!
😂
