since 454 update, I have no clutch and the wheel is not centering and jumping at turns.. My CSL DD + CSL Pedals LC are just 2 months old. And it's just trash now. Thanks for the frustrating holidays Fanatec.
Wheelbase decided to update itself, even when on 454 already mid iRacing session, all by itself
454 driver but you may be interested in checking the logs...
Logs attached, all updated two weeks ago to latest 454 firmwares on wheelbase, motor, QR, wheel and button module bur yesterday during an iRacing timetrial, the throttle went full, lost steering, blue light flashing on the base, and the firmware update screen popped up for updating the wheelbase and not to unplug the USB.... had to press flash.... it flashed successfully, then I had to recalibrate wheen and set brake back to 100% from 50 in fanalab.... very strange it launched firmware all on its own.
Hello. I have installed version 455 over 454 on my CSL DD base and it turns out that Xbox mode does not appear. I get PC mode, PC Comp mode, but Xbox mode doesn't appear and I can't play my Xbox console. I have tried to uninstall the 454 driver and clean the 455 and nothing, the Xbox mode does not appear.
It has only appeared on some occasions, but when I turn it off and on, there is no way. However, if I go back to the 454 controller, I have Xbox mode without problems.
Hello everyone.. i have driver 454.. so what is the correct way to update the driver? is it fully uninstalling the old driver and then installing the new one with a firmware update?
or i can just download the updated version and just install it and update it without uninstalling anything else
Aren't you ever going to fix these known issues? Been with the CSL DD since launch and is over a year !!!!
Known Issues
When entering a game menu while driving it can happen in some games that the FFB effect doesn't get canceled which results in the wheel turning to one side. (this got now fixed for the Podium DD but can still happen on the CSL DD. We will now apply the fix for the CSL DD as well)
Natural friction can start to feel weird after some time of driving. In case you experience issues with NFR, we suggest to turn it OFF for now. (this got now fixed for the Podium DD but can still happen on the CSL DD. We will now apply the fix for the CSL DD as well)
The steering input jump issue was greatly improved so the issue happens a lot less than before. Full fix expected for one of the next versions.
Sometimes one mode gets broken/disabled more due to how windows registers USB devices than the actual update. Have you tried running the repair function of the driver? This helps in most cases of 'my wheel suddenly is no longer detected in XYZ mode'. I suggest going for 455. Most probably all the modes will work since reverting to 454 fixed it and in case it still doesn't work go for the repair function while setting the wheel to the nonworking mode.
Attempted to update the 454 driver to the 455 driver and was forced to End Task when it froze mid-installation. Now the wheelbase (DD1) is not recognized by the Fanatec Control Panel. Reinstallation does not work, the repair function does not work, nor can I uninstall the program using the Windows uninstallation tool. When canceling the attempt to do either of the above (as they all seize and require force stop) the Windows error prompt is displayed "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package."
Using a second PC that has never had a Fanatec driver installed, I was able to install the 455 driver without issue and verify connectivity with the DD1 and that the FW is up to date.
How can I delete the corrupt driver on the affected PC so that I can start fresh? I've already tried reinstalling the older 454 without success.
Thank you so much. It has worked for me, deleting the drivers and reinstalling them. I also changed the USB port to connect to the computer. Thank you very much!!!
I just updated to driver 455. I have a Podium DD1 PS with a Formula V2 wheel (in addition to the F1 blue Formula V2). Everything updated fine but I can’t get the base into Xbox mode with the Formula V2. I can cycle through all the inputs but Xbox does not show up. Any suggestions?
It seems that the McLaren v2 wheel is only running with 8nm on the new CS DD (maybe also the CS DD+). Even when it is connected with a QR2 Metall version. The description on the CS DD website states that the wheels are only limited to 8nm, when a plastic QR1/2 is used
(Seen on „Ron reviewt“ YouTube channel, I am currently waiting for my base.)
The McLaren can run with the full 12 Nm strength on the CS DD (and the full 15 Nm on the CS DD+) when a metal QR is attached.
I also saw his review and have only one explanation for that: He previously used a plastic QR which has a 1cm long pin which pushes on a detection plate inside the steering wheel to indicate to the base that the base should limit the torque to Low Torque Mode (= 8 Nm). When removing the plastic QR to replace it with a metal QR in some rare cases it can happen that this detection plate gets stuck and therefore the base still thinks that the pin of a plastic QR is pushing on the plate and therefore it still limits the torque to 8 Nm.
Solution is easy: remove the QR, take an allen key or something similar und push on the detection plate a few times to make sure it is not stuck, then attach the metal QR again and attach the wheel again to the base - now it should enable the High Torque Mode with full strength.
See this screenshot which shows the Base is running at full 15 Nm with a McLaren wheel attached :)
Correct, every P1 wheel variant (including the WRC) and the GT DD Pro Steering Wheel is limited to Low Torque Mode (= 8 Nm) even when using a metal QR. EVERY other wheel supports the High Torque Mode when using a metal QR.
That is definitely a false positive (if downloaded from the 1st post of this thread or from www.fanatec.com/driver and not from other sources).
There wont be a new version until at least early or even mid January due to christmas and new year holidays. 455 is and will be the current stable officially released driver until then.
Did you downgraded the Firmware as well or simply just the driver? Because the driver should have nothing to do with the Base modes as you would apply the Xbox mode, well, on the Xbox and not on a PC so without a USB connection to the driver.......

With this little meaningful information no one will be able to help you. Read the first post to see how to report problems.

Doesnt really matter.
I always uninstall old driver first before installing new drivers but there are also people who just install new one over old one without issues.
FANATEC need to clarify the Drivers update method. Point by point.
I updated my driver and firmware like the manual method, but many problems occurs during this update and FFB grainy as hell after.
After many hours of install, uninstall, repair, reboot, plug, unplugged, upgrade, downgrade.
My CSL DD seems ok with the old drivers 450.
WHAT IS THE MOST STABLE METHOD to update driver and firware ?
I've always followed the instructions in the PDF in the .zip file, and never had a problem.
Aren't you ever going to fix these known issues? Been with the CSL DD since launch and is over a year !!!!

They are still on the list with high Prio to be fixed next year, yes.

I have a created post about it and I have reacted under almost every post in last three weeks. No any answer. Maybe I'm sick of it?
Same problem here. Didnt try to get back to 454 had to go to work. Will try later

Is this a software issue which will be fixed?
This is wrong and not a software issue.

Thank you for your fast response! This sounds good to me as I am planning to use the DD+ with the McLaren wheel.
Am I correct that the WRC wheel with a metal QR2 will not support the full 12/15nm?
There is something like this stated in the WRC description in regard of using it with the metal QR1 and the DD1/2.
Correct, every P1 wheel variant (including the WRC) and the GT DD Pro Steering Wheel is limited to Low Torque Mode (= 8 Nm) even when using a metal QR. EVERY other wheel supports the High Torque Mode when using a metal QR.
Thanks again for the clarification. So I hope the Rally Sweden wheel is up for preorder soon. :)
you mean this one?
that not have xbox support
I noticed a issue. When i save the pedal settings on my V2, and turning off my base, and restart, then it's always going to default setup.
Yup, that is a known FW issue of the CSL Elite V2 pedals for quite some time. On the list to be fixed next year.
Thank you for the information, i didn't know that!
The latest 455 firmware download shows a security issue on VirusTotal:
Any comments to this? Is this a false positive? Or will there be a new version?
Regards
Jonas

I downgraded to driver 454 and I can now get in Xbox mode. Driver 455 will not allow my base to go into Xbox mode for some reason.
Me too. The 455 has a problem with Xbox mode. A friend of mine, same problem.
