Fanatec DD1 defective motor PCB Mainboard replacement

I recently bought a defective DD1.
The seller stated that the power supply is bad and needs replacing. This was a straight lie. The power supply works fine, but went into protection mode because of a short on the 36V line. I disassembled the base and found one of the motor pcbs to be completel burnt (I guess a shorted mosfet lead to this).
The seller must have known this. Damage to the board is severe and it must have smelled an smoked pretty bad.
I still think the base will work again with an new pcb.
Does anybody know where to get this PCB from or does anybody have one to sell out of a parts base?
I dont think fanatec will sell this to me.

depends how much damage, but you can also self replace mofsets.
they are kind of sensitive tho, may need also figure out what may cause this
when mosfet blows up. i usually think first. too weak. need add little stronger ones.
but that is little complicated because then you need start read allot manuals
The board is completely toast. Burnt through all the layers. It basically exploded.
I am capable of changing the mosfets and hoped the board itself is okay but I definitely need a new board.
yeah. there is this thing that those products have allot Amps, it does may eat up board self as well if something goes very bad
Yes exactly that happened. MOSFET probably failed over time and shorted out. 36V and 13.33A would have propably killed every board.
Even the board that sits on the opposite site of this is full of residue and dust from the explosion. But other than that it should still work.
You have any clue where to get such a replacement pcb?
i think Fanatec can fix that for you. as they make products.
The question is if they sell this pcb to me.
They will not touch the base since its already disassembled and it would be a lot cheaper for me to change the pcb myself.
Fanatec will not sell you just the pcb. You will need to sent the unit back to Fanatec for repair at your cost.
Thats what I had already thought. Suddenly in this case it is not worth it. Repair probably costs as much or even more than buying another broken DD1.
I suspect they likely charge high prices because of the high purchase price. The base is old, tech is outdated and prices are falling since the DD/DD+ release. Probably have to quit this project then. Now I have a 300€ brick…
when i was allot younger, i find outside the device what pcb board was smash from some angry user, guess what,
it take a time but i fix a product and it start work like nothing happened, if look inside board look little ugly tho. but who is looking inside much anyway
if you self not have skills for this. there are over the world a people who can todo that for you
and they are doing more harder and complex repairs than a fanatec product

I have all the necessary skills for microsoldering but the pcb is completeöy burned. Layers are shorting and all traces inside the pcb are gone. There is basically a hole in the board. The board is beyond repairable.

Yes the picture doesnt really show it. The main damage is on the other side but the damage is even slightly visible on this side. But I know it is definitely not repairable.
Finding a spare pcb will be very hard.
i have feeling that fanatec self not really care much about those stuff, they just want that people buy new and new and new.
some hard burning could be avoided if use little different components what would not face into board self
that would make repair cheaper for both way
lets say if you get new board
but if you not find self the actual cause for this, then new board could burn down as well.

Yes its sad that many manufacturers use the cheapest option and risking damage like this because of 10 cents extra they would have to pay but it is what it is.
I am pretty sure the cause was a shorted mosfet on the backside of the board. There are many of them on exactly the position where it is burnt. Could still be the motor but I think it is very unlikely.
Wasnt a MOSFET, but a Capacitor. It really exploded and did damage to 2 layers. Without a reference board I can definitely not fix that.
Check Ebay. At the moment there is a DD1 mainboard listed at $349.
Yes I have seen that but the board on the ebay listing is not the motor board and I am situated in germany so shipping + taxes would be too high anyways.

What I would do is shelve the DD1 currently and keep an eye on faulty DD1s on your local marketplace, ebay, kleinzagen, etc. Repair it and have fun. The only thing is.. to find one within a certain timeframe until DD1's are too old.
when i todo software test with my DD2, results was better than for CSL DD, too old may not happen anytime soon
I think the problem with all DD1-2 is the power supply. I had a problem with my DD1 after my power supply died. I bought another psu and the base works but the screen and fan cooler do not work. I visually inspected the pcb and found nothing unusual.
I have 2 DD1's, I tested the affected PCB on the good DD1 and it has the same problem, so it's a problem with the PCB.
I contacted Fanatec to see if they could sell me a PCB and they told me that due to company policy they do not sell that type of spare parts. I saw the eBay post where the PCB is selling for $350 but that seems too expensive to me.
