miss up shifting

After updating the driver and wheel base firmware to the latest version, upshifting misses are occurring. I checked various methods and found that the problem is happening in the latest wheelbase firmware version (the driver version does not matter). Since I purchased a Bentley rim, I need to use the wheelbase firmware as the latest one but there's an issue with it. If I use an old version of the wheelbase firmware, the Bentley rim doesn't work. Is there any other way?

  • No. You can only hope that it will be fixed within a few months or within a year. They always only promise bugs will be fixed sometime in the future or with future updates. And when they fix something, you get 2x more new bugs. So it takes even longer for a product to at least work good. It's a joke...

    Hi Daun Jung,

I want to explain this issue as best as possible to our firmware developers so they can solve it as quickly as possible.

    • Which wheel base are you using?
    • Which driver/firmware version do you go back to to get tie issue resolved?
    • Did you try driver 456 or 457 in the past and was the issue happening there as well or not?
    • Which wheels do you have and does the issue happen with all your wheels or only with some?
  • Same problem DD2 Base, 462 Driver, update DD2 frimware, every ~50-100 shifts, there’s one upshift that isn’t detected.

interesting is i not saw miss shifting problem, but i not play with iracing so dunno

  • hello.

Which wheel base are you using?

    -> I've used Podium DD1 wheel base.

Which driver/firmware version do you go back to to get tie issue resolved?

-> the firmware was downgraded using the fanatec control panel.

Did you try driver 456 or 457 in the past and was the issue happening there as well or not?

-> Yes. does not relate driver version. just wheel base firmware version is effected this issue.

Which wheels do you have and does the issue happen with all your wheels or only with some?

    -> I use Mclaren gt3 v2 / BMW M4 gt3 / Bentley gt3. And I can see this issue all my wheel.

    thanks for the additional info.

Are you using FanaLab and if yes can you try if the problem is also happening without having it running in the background?

Same issue here, downshifting is terrible, almost not working... I am using Xbox series x/s...after the latest firmware update (wheel and base) I encountered the issue on my ClubSport Formula V2.5 mounted on CSL DD 5Nm - however, the McLaren GT3 is still working perfectly with my CSL DD 5Nm! Actually, I haven't updated the wheel yet...I am very afraid! Is it possible to downgrade the firmware on the V2.5 again?

    Thank you!

  • i think i saw self some "up miss shifts" now myself as well or i start just go totally crazy, but its very odd,

is there any changes in firmware about the clock or loop cycles?

because i not saw this all the time

in forum people talk that this "miss shift" started happen after 455 firmware

they been test this already, perhaps it not happen constantly and that's why it's hard to notice

this bug is so brain confusing that it makes feel like, hey to i not push button strong eh-oh?

    https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/comment/125833

people been talk this since last year already

  • I will test without FanaLab app and I will let you know about result.

  • so i decide go back to 455 and currently seems it work correctly without miss up shift with my DD2

and if this info is usefully then i not use tray app or fanalab, so this miss shift not comes at there

  • I also reverted to version 455 and downgraded the firmware. I’m using the latest version of Fanalab alongside it, and it works perfectly. Even with Fanalab in use, the miss upshift issue does not occur.

i understand, i was saying that i was get miss shift with they 463 even when i was not using the Fanalab

so that issue not comes at fanalab self.

people test this already that it started happen with 456 wheel base firmware, if search in forum then there are talks about that

3.0.4.4 or what ever that number was. i not find that post atm

Allan please only contribute to finding the root cause by giving feedback what works for you or doesn't work. Please not conspiracy theories, I'm removing those non-constructive comments.

It's really hard to extract useful information from the forum if it's filled with comments which don't contribute to the topic.

Got some feedback that the issue is only happening with the base firmware of drivers 456 to 462 while FanaLab is running and not happening when either 455 is used or FanaLab is not running. Does everyone here feel the same or is it also happening without FanaLab?

I see Guido having the issue on Xbox console, meaning it's also happening without FanaLab at least there.

I want to find out if it's additional traffic from an app like FanaLab causing miss-shifts or if it's only the firmware.

  • That is absolutely correct! It happened on Xbox as well after the update to 462! But only for my ClubSport F1 wheel! Fortunately, the McLaren GT3 is still working fine! Does that mean I can downgrade to 455?

i have question, this bug is been here almost year now. people been complain this allot times already. why now?

allot people are already tired of complain so they simply use 455

i'm not fanatec worker but i seen so many reports from this problem in this forum

highest problem with this bug is that its hard to notice, if you play lets say 5 min you may not even see that and it looks like everything is ok

  • But i can see this issue in bentley wheel without FanaLab.(I can not see this issue on bmw m4 gt3 without FanaLab. Maybe there is frequntly on bentley wheel.. maybe)

I will more test other wheel without fanalab and update soon.

what ClubSport Formula V2.5 you have? does it have version 47 firmware ?

the reason why i ask this, i not remember that i saw downshifting problem in here

  • ok. so decide uninstall everything including Fanalab

and then install again the driver 462 with firmware and also Fanalab what i not really use

currently it's been working in here, so not sure atm what may cause this up miss shift

i try also 463 but for some reason it not want detected my DD2 after i shut that off and on. not sure what caused that either

i still test if that "up miss shift" shows again or not

  • When you folks downgrade to driver 455 do you also downgrade firmware?

  • Of course because the issue is in the FIRMWARE and not the driver ;)

  • Yeah, that's where I have an issue - I have the PBMR and rolling back the firmware reintroduces a bug on it.

  • Having the same issues after updating my CSL DD (8nm) and Formula V2.5 (QR1) wheel. My rev lights and upshifts won´t work under ffb in left or right corners in only a certain degree (noticed it during Watkins Glen on ACC; Turn 3-4), rest is fine but sometimes also on the straight aswell. Check with my non updated McLaren GT3 V2 (QR1) with which i didn´t encounter any issues. I´m using FanaLab and playing on PC.

Is going back to 455 a fix rn?

There are some reports suggesting that the wheel used makes a big difference. For example two reported that with the Button Module Rally attached there are a lot of missed shifts while when unplugging the BMR the miss-shifts get less but are still there.

Are you here coming to the same result when comparing different wheels? Which wheels are worse?

  • Marcel PfisterMarcel Pfister Member, Administrator

thanks so seems like the issue is worse with the Bentley, interesting.
