CSL DD problems with FFB

Hi,

I’ve noticed a significant change in the force feedback recently, and I’m wondering if there was an update from Fanatec that might have caused this. The feedback now feels very different. For example, when I take a long corner, the wheelbase is capable of vibrating and producing force, but instead of consistent feedback, I only feel a centering pull. There’s no detail or variation in the feedback during the corner—it just feels like the wheel wants to return to the center, and that’s it.

Has anything changed in recent updates that could explain this behavior?

Thanks in advance!

  • Did YOU update recently and notice a change because it won't update itself.

  • Thank you for your response. I took your advice and reached out to the support team :)

  • I updated after I felt a noticeable change. I tested a few different versions and it has nothing to do with the driver version. I hope it’s not a mechanical issue. The wheel has a lot of feedback when I drive on a straight but when you enter a corner it loses that feedback. (The wheel does not clip)

  • To be honest that's just a generic answer from Nina. You'd probably get better help from members on this one. I'd check if you've changed any settings before you noticed this (game and driver), make sure you're not on auto in the tuning menu. Post any relevant info: Pc,Xbox, both/ Tuning menu settings/ Fw versions/ what game this happens in, same change in other games? Anything you feel relevant.

I haven’t used my setup for the past two weeks, and everything was working perfectly before. Yesterday, when I powered on my wheelbase, I noticed that the consistent force feedback felt very different. The wheel is still able to produce vibrations, but it feels like it’s delivering much less force than before (around half as much). The wheel also “clips” much sooner, which further reduces the force—it’s now weaker than even a Logitech G29.

I primarily play RaceRoom, but I tested it on Rennsport as well and experienced the same issue. I did notice that a Windows update occurred during the time I wasn’t using the setup, so I’m wondering if this could be related.

I think the problem lays somewhere with the power (the wheel clips way faster and is less powerful. if I adjust the ffb multiplier in raceroom it stays between the red and green line on the graph. Before my ffb multiplier was on 2.6, now it's on 0.5.

(I use the 5nm power supply)

    System Info:

    OS: Windows 10 PC

Driver: Issue first noticed on version 462, currently on version 463

Wheelbase Settings: Default (auto-setup). Even switching to advanced mode, which I hadn’t used previously, doesn’t solve the problem.

  • Could be windows update. Make sure it hasn't enabled USB power saving. You could also try a different USB port on pc. If you switched to advanced mode but didn't change any settings then it's much the same as auto. Try advanced tuning and lower NDP to 10 and INT to 2 to test. Also make sure you're on Peak not Linear. You could post your tuning menu settings?

  • meanwhile I tried a few things such as windows driver updates, checking the power supply, checking the wheel shaft. all that seems to be normal. for now the problem seems to be better. I also changed the settings u recommended. im still clipping a bit in corners such as au rouge at spa Francorchamps. would it be an option to buy a boost kit to solve that problem maybe?

Thanks for your advice and time!

  • That's good it seems better now. Out of curiosity have you tried with SHO off, see how that feels? Also do you have another wheel to try. I do feel it's down to settings though. Play around a little with NDP and INT. NDP at 10 may be a little low for some. INT around 2-4 usually good. But experiment, making small changes at a time. As for the boost kit, I could never recommend you get it to solve a problem. On the other hand if you feel your base is working properly then yes I'd recommend it. I started with 5nm lasted a month then purchased the boost kit, quite a difference! Beware though depending on your setup (I desk mount to a sturdy solid wooden desk)

Just to note: if you go back to standard tuning from advanced it will reset tuning setup 1 to default.

Default is NDP 50 and INT 11 which isnt very good.

  • Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely try that tomorrow and experiment a bit more with the settings. I am considering getting a boost kit, but my wheelbase is currently mounted on a homemade wooden sim rig, so I’m not sure if it would be sturdy enough to handle it, haha. Good to know you’re enjoying it though!

also handy to know the default. I wil let you know how i experience the tuning tomorrow!
