Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox One) - Fanatec Recommended Settings

General Notes:
- The settings below are considered to be reasonable baseline values for Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox One). They might not suit all tastes and driving styles, but they are a good starting point.

- In order to apply the suggested settings correctly, it is important to assign both the Tuning Menu values AND the suggested In-Game settings together.

- For the Podium Series settings, it is assumed that the Torque Key is being used.

- While Forza Horizon 4 offers relaxed handling and forgiving physics, these settings are intended for players who want the most realistic driving experience possible with their Fanatec hardware in this game. Cockpit view is recommended.

- 'Steering' and 'Damage & Tyre Wear' should be set to 'Simulation' in the Difficulty Menu.

- Please ensure you are using the latest firmware for all Fanatec devices.

Does anyone actually use a wheel in Forza Horizon or should it be played with a controller only?
My Fanatec setup works perfectly in the game but I just can't drive well with it.
Whenever I meet a higher than 45 degree turn I take off landscaping and doing 360s.
I tried the settings above as well as verious extremes to increase or decrease resistance and feeling but it doesn't seem to better much.

My setup is CSL Elite PS4 with Elite P1, Elite pedals, CS shifter and CS handbrake. Latest firmware from the 340 package.
  • its possible just takes lots of time and practice i currently have a logitech g920 (cs v2.5 and rest of setup in delivery) which is much less realistic than anything fanatec and after about 3+ months worth of spining and crash i have got it worked and managed to do some decent drifts and good cirucit racing! i have found that FM7 (forza motorpsort 7) is much more realisitc with a wheel and seems to be easier to control the car, drift the car, etc. so i would recommend you give FM7 a try.

You certainly *can* use a wheel, but I think most people find that a controller is simply easier for most situations. It's such a hectic game with so many variables coming at you and different situations that you find yourself in, that it's difficult to find settings that feel good while you're out cruising vs. doing Playground Games vs. doing a drift run.

That being said, I found that the posted settings here in the forum are a decent place to start. Then slowly go through and change each setting, one at a time to feel what effect it has on driving feel. It takes some time, and a lot of it is going to be up to personal taste, but some pretty usable (and fun!) results can definitely be achieved.

(Edit: didn't realize OP was from over a year ago... lol sorry for the necro-bump)

  • Has anyone explored settings with the new CSL DD? I know the game is kind of old but would be nice

  • I would also be interested in the settings for csl dd no one has any suggestions?

I am also interested in hearing about everyone's experience with the CSL DD in Horizon 4. I find it rather floaty and with the wheel not returning to center. Forza Horizon 5 feels SO much better in comparison.

I am using the CSL DD with the Universal Xbox Hub v2
