Brand New DD1 Noise When Turning Left
Recently hooked up my DD1 after a 3 month wait for my new 8020 profile rig, updated all drivers and fanalab etc wheel base on V373. Using the GT3 Porsche Podium Endurance wheel and V3 pedals.
I've only had around 6hrs drive time, and after a few minutes driving after sitting for a long period i can hear and feel a click noise when turning left at around 9-10oclock. I've done all the usual stuff like check all the bolts are tight on the rim as well as inside the quick release. Also have applied a small amount of grease to the balls inside the QR after seeing someone else saying they've had noise from them before. And turned down the FEI which made no difference.
Unsure if I should revert the software or send to fanatec. I'd rather do everything I can to prevent sending the unit back at this stage when I've barely used it two days.
Any input would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Boothy

Hi Boothy,
I had a similar noise on my DD1, I needed to re adjust the locking ring and rubber gasket.
If u haven’t already, undo and remove the wheel then put it back on and fully tighten the locking ring and gasket
see if that helps
Yeh I have done that a few times it seems to go away for around 10mins use then it comes back again.
Is the locking ring loose after those 10 mins?
i was hesitant to over tighten that gasket initially but now I torque it up quite a bit as I found it would vibrate loose regularly otherwise
Nah I do it up pretty tight i reckon its something to do with the quick release I had a very similar noise with my mclaren rim on my csl, reverted back to slip on instead of QR and it went away
I have the exact same issue with my new DD1 and Porsche 911 GT3 wheel, the formula wheel works without this issue. I did try a few things and the only solution seems to be to connect the wheel using the locking bolt that connects the the underside of the QR to the shaft of the DD1. It slows down the process of changing wheels but i only need to use the bolt on the Porsche wheel to stop the clicking noise which is one saving grace
Yeh I've been thinking about doing the same to try and stop it, did you use the silver bolt that came in the box ? And has it stopped the noise completely?
I've also noticed that the noise only happens when turning left at about 9 o'clock. Im only running about 65% feedback.
I have a quick release i took off my old mclaren gt3 rim on my csl that im going to pull apart and grease the balls and then put it on the rim to see if it goes away.
I had the exact same issue as you - left turning, certain amount of force...etc the bolt solved it completely but i had 2 bolts - 1 came with the DD1 (this fitted) and one with the podium hub (didn't fit bizarrely), I've also only used my DD1 for about 10 hours too so a bit disappointed the QR on the podium hub is so poor!
I did try using grease but made no difference whatsoever, only the QR bolt fixed the issue
Sweet As will search the boxes was hoping to not hav to use it but not changing rims so often so its alright.
Glad to know someone else had the same issue not just me thanks mate👍
Hope it helps, report back either way please :)
May inform Fanatec that the podium hub QR is pony
Will do mate gonna try it when I get home from work in the mornin. Did notice the TCR racing on iracing makes it worse haha
How're you finding the 80/20 rig? I recently upgraded from the GT Omega ART to the simlab P1X and it's solid as a rock but a complete b*stard to put together and adjust lol
Yeh went from a csl elite with playseat alcanctara to an 8020 rig with dd1 so massive upgrade. Yeh definitely not fun to put together but much better now once I've got everything where I want it all comfortable
Seems to be fixed once I've put a bolt through the quick release. Bit disappointing having to put one in when they say you don't need to but regardless the noise seems to have stopped👌
You guys just made my day!
