Fix/mod! CSL Load-Cell pedal

I just got the load-cell pedal yesterday and I thought it was very stiff with little travel. So I took the foam bit from the non-load cell brake pedal and replaced one of the rubber ones on the load cell brake with the foam bit. The foam bit has a hole through it that fits on the load-cell pin. Got a bit more travel and better feel i think👍🏻😊

Oh I need to try that! Was thinking of looking of some bits of thick heavy foam to cut and try out.
Works really good actually. Only if you want a softer feel break. I drive with only socks on so I preefer a softer feel and this mod does exactly that😊
I also drive with socks, but I use BRF 100% and I have no problem with the pedal travel.😉
Does it get softer over time? I guess its just a personal preference thing😊 I have no experience with real racecars and how the brakes feel in one but i like the brake better now that it has a little softer start and gets harder the more i press the pedal🤷🏻♂️
Does it get softer over time?
Just a little bit.
I was thinking of those gym or exercise mats that I could cut out and just layer them. Those feel softer than the stock black rubber dampers that come with the LC kits.
btw does your BRF resets back to 30% after you turn your base off then in again?
No it does not reset. But you have to set the max brake force again to suit your preference👍🏻
foam that comes in bike boxes.
cut to size. x3 and gives the brake pedal a bit more travel.
but will have to monitor as i can see the foam disintegrating...
😬 yeah that doesn't strike me as being a long-term solution.
totally short term! after 3hrs of racing they collapsed!
but i found these...
from bbj sim racing ltd (uk) will try them out and let you guys know. 😉
The blues are 60 shore which is a little softer than the original Fanatec dampers which are 65 shore.
If the size is the same(because these are for the CSL Elite pedals) and you have four blue dampers, you will get a longer travel.
yup.. those are for the elite, but they work on the new 2022 CSL LC brake pedals. 😁
the diameter of the hole of the elastomer is slightly bigger, but the black discs in between the elastomers have raised sections which keep the elastomers centred.
Hello
Would it be possible for someone to share the actual spring assembly? After removing the spring behind the LC brake pedal 2 different sized metal washers also fell out and I have no idea what order these washers are to go back to.
I have placed back the elastomer spring without one of the washers and it seems to work fine with slightly more travel but I would like to put it back together as it was originally. When I try to put it back, in the way my brain logically thinks it should go back, I can't squeeze the spring closed enough for it to fit back into the notch that holds it.
Hoping someone can help.
Thanks
This is how it is arranged.
And after assembling it, pay attention to whether the two washers are parallel to each other and to the load cell.
🤣🤣🤣... when I 1st took it off, everything flew everywhere! 🤔
I just found pictures of the LC kit online and assumed the smaller spacer was sitting inside the last plastic disc and the metal spacer... for support.
and it is exactly as Hristo indicated above.
You have to squeeze the elastomers together to shorten the distance in between, so you can slip it in,,, and be careful as they have grease and you will lose your grip and it will fly everywhere again! 😂
Thank you so much for your quick responses and photos.. Really appreciate it.
Below is a pic of what came apart from my spring when I detached it. My question now is do I have the order of rebuilding it correct with the 2 little black rings {for lack of a better term to use} or do I have it wrong as I simply cannot squeeze it up enough to reinstall it to the pedal.
Thanks again for everyone's input on this but I cannot find this information anywhere.
Thanks all...i've managed to work it all out and it is all back to normal. those 2 'black rings' actually fit on the side knobs of the spring that sit in the notch of the pedal keeping the spring in place.
thanks everyone for your help and I think this has been a good little discussion to highlight the assembly for anyone else having such issues in future.
cheers
Hi David,
how is that working for you? My LC iss stiff as f* and I am searching a solution too my bro ;)
Hi Ole I hope all goes well,
what an awesome idea to try out, did you cut the foam from the original Brake to the same size as the rubbers? I was searching for a solution too, cause I am struggling if I should return the loadCell and buy a ClubSport v3 PedalSet instead. But I think for the more dollars I have to pay (230€), I can buy me a Fanatec shifter set and try to m0d the loadCell to my liking ;) Do you still use that m0d and did it work properly?
this guy did a mod too and that looks solid ;)

Thanks alot my friend, I ordered the hybrid bundle straight away :) 14€ delivery costs are a bummer, but I think thats the only way atm to get the brake a lil bit looser ;)
suprise suprise :)
can you give evaluations? how do you feel with them?
you can also find DIY solutions in this thread:

I did the mod using the foam from the old brake and it works an absolute treat! Why can’t they ship it like this? Almost as if they’ve made it purposefully inferior to other products.
Sort of like the plastic QR lite, then you’re enticed to buy the metal QR1
How long do you think the foam will last with a person who uses BRF set to MAX?😉
I did think the same. But I guess it’s used in the normal brake so it’s got to be pretty resilient. The good thing is now I know how to do it it’s easy enough to swap bits in and out if it does degrade.
The bushings look just like skateboard bushings? I've looked but I can't that many bushings around the 65 shore mark - would be interesting to test with skateboard sets that would let you tune the feeling (I mean other than the 3DRap and BBJ)
