CSL DD loses connection once I attach my McLaren wheel
I had to do the bandaid fix of pushing the shaft back into place, but after doing so, now my CSL DD connects, works fine, and then I’ll plug in my wheel and suddenly the CSL DD disconnects.
Anyone have any experience with this? Everything is tight and in place, as far as I can tell. None of the pins inside the steering wheel are bent or broken.

do We know what kind of fuse is in the base? The Jt8a?
you say fuse burn out? how? it should not burn out at all as its bigger than boost kit self, unless you used non fanatec power supply or you had some high connection issue at there
but if you want know then its a 8A fuse
T means that its a delay Fuse and J is probably a company
Yeah I just can’t find one that tiny. And I don’t know, I’m just trying to find out what could be possibly wrong.
when the shaft is fully plugged in, it should be working, but it’s not. As soon as I plug in the wheel, the wheel base loses power.
Does the clamp have to be insanely tight 10nm for the usb c shaft to work? I assume not.

Okay, I ordered a couple just for fun. I don’t know why, but my wheel is vibrating softly while it’s got the red flashing light. Makes me think something within the PC has gone wrong, like bad drivers or something.
if your base power button is flashing it means, you have issue between steering wheel and base
Maybe I’ll try and pop off the front cover.
Everything seems fine, so I guess I’ll have to give up. I’m out of ideas, and out of warranty, so I’ll just have to see if Fanatec can cut me some slack or something.
When the shaft on my CSL DD + McLaren got loose and lost connection, I was able to fix it by reinserting it and retightening the clamp. The loose shaft had caused some mechanical damage on the usb-c connector in the shaft, making it a bit hard to insert it back. Luckily it now works despite this. Have you checked the condition of the shaft usb connector? My guess is that there's some damage there which manifests itself when the wheel is connected. Maybe.
yes there could be damage as user talked something about fuse, 7,5 amp is not a joke, it could damage the shaft socked or plug contacts aswell
Im not sure how to go about checking this. I assume this is also a likely possibility but I don’t have anywhere else to plug this shaft in to test it.
Just a suggestion, remove the shaft from the base and inspect it visually.. If it looks bad it most likely is the culprit. And who knows, maybe reinserting it carefully might clear the problem...
Both the usb port and the usb shaft look brand new, that’s my problem there lol. My wheel died on a flat portion of track too, so it’s not like it came loose amidst heavy vibrations.
So I’ve determined it’s the wheel itself. I’m tempted to crack it open and see if anything came loose or if the pins maybe need replacing.
is there a guide out there for this? For the McLaren v2
I checked the inside and it looked fine, everything attached still. I want to order a replacement for the pins and the connectors but before I do I really need to know that replacing the pins would work. Is there any way to test this? I’ve tried the McLaren wheel on a separate wheel base so I know it’s the wheel itself.
