Xbox SDK
Any news on the SDK for Fanatec steering wheels? Many months ago it was unofficially commented that Microsoft released the GDK and Fanatec was working on the SDK. It would be nice if Fanatec made an official statement and said clearly "Yes, we are working on it" or "No, forget it, that will never happen." At this point I think Fanatec is losing sales, I myself would like to buy more steering wheels, but I am not going to spend €500 on a steering wheel whose main features do not work.
Comments
They officially announced to be working on a Xbox SDK back in December 2022 already.
This SDK needs to be implemented by the games then via a game update, which means only games which still get updates from the game developers and upcoming new games will benefit from the SDK. Old games which are EOL will not be able to benefit from the SDK.
The question is, have they finished that SDK yet? Do the developers have it? Many of us thought that with the Arrival of Forza Motorsport it would come with it, as it is the first new Microsoft game since the announcement.
Thank you for your comments
They did? I must have missed it. Link, please?

Ok, I've seen that. I was hoping you meant something like a press release, or at least something in an FAQ that's easily discoverable, not some random comment that's buried within a 17-page forum discussion. But...I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Fanatec have never made this issue (nor communicating with customers about it) a priority, so why start now?
It may have slip through the cracks, but have you read this post? Gregg and I have covered this topic before (very recently) and I feel this post will have repeat answers . We have some pretty interesting finds and dialogue outlining various responses the community has received and how full compatibility is possible but still under Lock & Key.

Is this available for implementation to UE5 or Unity?
What?
It's not available at all yet.
And when it becomes available then it's available for game developers who then need to implement it into the games. So ultimatively in the end it's up to the game developers to implement the SDK once it became available.
SDK's are often openly available to make it easier for developers and the modding community to implement many things. I've used plenty of them. And yup, i would use this.
So what I am asking is if it will be available for Unreal Engine or Unity which can publish to all platforms and make it easier to develop support for the wheel.
I have setup Flight Sticks and Controllers in both Unity and UE5, but have "steered" ;) clear of wheels cuz of FFB overwhelming my brain.
I hope this isn't something that's kept in a closet for only specific studios.
Is there any timeline on when the SDK is going to be released? It is approaching a year of working on it, so it should be very soon right?
for xbox you to need license, it's not that easy like you think
Well here is Fanatec's info on it: https://fanatec.com/us-en/faq/details/id/80
They wanna protect ip, but often an SDK includes what a dev needs and nothing more. Other SDK's are released to promote development for a companies product.
Seeing that UE5 has the Chaos engine specifically designed for racing physics, it would be really nice if wheel companies released some more support.
Like this:
yes this how it works, but i think they not really share that for everyone
and for talk about FFB you should start learn directX then
I'm not trying to be argumentative. But you're missing the point. So I'll try one more time:
It is not uncommon. It only promotes the companies product and support.
And I would like one for the wheel i own. Because I do this stuff all the time. For work and for my hobby. I have enough work to do without someone saying just go learn more stuff.
Moza is promoting a community SDK for good reason.
well, i own a Fanatec SDK, and i can tell you a big Secret , they not develop the FFB, game developers todo this with DirectX and Direct Input.
i have so weird feeling that they should not give SDK for you because you literally post here a link where you can get this but instead you talk nonsense at here
Also i to want tell this, im also hobbyist
i developed a special Plugin for our big over 3000 users "F1 Challenge 99-02" community that they could Enjoy the "Rev lights and the Screen info" with they Fanatec product, i to asked also SDK from Trashmaster but they refuse give me that, so that Plugin works only for Fanatec products
but even i'm hobbyist i still know what means CONFIDENTIAL, for kids it means you are not allowed share info what belongs inside that SDK
omg. I feel like im in the Youtube comments section. Your right. And very special. Go make your special and great things. Got tell everyone they are wrong about everything.
I just got excited seeing a Fantec SDK I AM SORRY! I WONT USE IT FOR EVIL! I WONT USE IT AT ALL! Now you can relax.
criminy...
good boy, stuff like this is not for kids, if you todo something wrong, you may damage own steering wheel and other people steering wheels aswell
lol ok Allan. Have a nice day.
