The Display is not supported in Xbox.
As far as I know the LED screen isn't supported on xbox.

Sometime in the future, yes.
However it's then up to games to implement the feature so most likely only for new games then.

The suggestion from Microsoft is that this function is available and just needs implementing by Fanatec.

This is true since some months (not years though as Microsoft has released their Xbox GDK just recently and other manufacturers used an unwanted loophole) and Fanatec already confirmed they are currently developing a Xbox SDK based on this official GDK which then needs to be implemented by the games (therefore most likely only new games in the future will support this as older games usually don’t get updates like that).

That is kind of good news. It would be nice to have an idea of a timeline for Fanatecs implementation. Only then can we see how interested the games developers will be in implementing it.
It really is a shame that such a nice wheel is under utilised. If you are an xbox user you have to ask yourself if you really wan't to pay for all the extra bits you can't use yet. Had we realised we would have thought twice.
