Thanks i just realized I was looking at the USB C connector to the base anyways. I'd have to un-mount pedals to get under them. Can I use that RJ-12 to USB adapter to plug pedals in directly to PC? I never tried it yet I guess.
As a handy hint, you leave the USB connected to the pedals - just keep it tucked away once youve disconnected it from the PC. Makes it a bit easier to update the pedals in the future (again, disconnecting the rj12 connection beforehand)
Yeah I meant to do that actually. I guess I thought I was going to have to take them off again after I installed them but didn't need to and left them on.
I updated to driver 455 on release day for my dd1 (the podium bundle with the blue f1 wheel) and everything has been working fine. Ive never had issues with the unit that i bought new in 01/2021.
Today after practicing i was in acc menu and suddenly the wheelbase shut down. Its been bricked since then. Ive tried recovering it with various older drivers and pretty much every troubleshoot i could find (removing all peripherals, different usb port, bootloader mode, etc), but its not responding. None of the drivers were able to flash the firmware. The base would shut down immediatly as soon as i clicked "flash firmware" in the control panel/firmware prompt window.
When i turn on the wheelbase the motor turns, but then nothing. Both the screen on the wheel and the wheelbase stay black. Theyve never been on again after the initial crash. There is a constant resistance in ffb when the wheelbase is "turned on", but the wheelbase isnt detected and as said the screens are black. The power button blinks white. The fans are not blowing.
Ive heard about units getting bricked while updating throughtout the years, but is this common that it just randomly dies outside of an update process ? Anything else i could try or is this an RMA ?
Don't know for sure, but it is most likely going to be either the brick power supply not supplying the correct voltage or an electrical fault in the DD1 circuitry. Either way I think the only answer is for Fanatec to say.
Maurice, could you please look at my post about DD+ Firmware Update failure I posted on February 14 in this thread and also created an own thread on February 12 in wheel bases discussions? It appears I‘m not the only one having these issues.
We/ I would like to know if it‘s a driver related issue or hardware.
Maybe at some point, most likely not anytime soon though as it requires a LOT of work to implement and there are currently zero ressources for such stuff.
I have a request for a future firmware enhancement. I can't see a thread for requests so I'll place this here.
Please have an option in the control panel to disable the CSW2 compatibility hotkey switch. I have the three top right buttons (on F1 v2.5 wheel) assigned to communication activities and the lower buttons assigned to other functions. It is rare but I have had a situation where I'm using PTT to talk to a teammate and selecting an option with the other button and it happens to be the hotkey combination for the alternate wheel mode. This forces a disconnect of the wheel while driving which, as you can imagine, isn't ideal.
That a thing I never understand with Fanatec. How a "multi million euro company", cannot afford to pay a team, with sufficient people, of good developers ?
Fanatec revenue in 2023: $14.1 Million. Can you google it at least ? Or did you take that just because it's a stereotype and its good to say on the internet ? Don't tell me you're a stackholder ?
ah, didnt google it. sorry. got better things to do... And i said it not cos its a stereotype, but a lot of people dont realise how business works. You cant just hire new people, as there are consequences to it - like wages etc. And profit is part of that equation.
As for being a stakeholder? shareholder? No - not even close. In fact, once im able to, im dumping my CSL Elite and moving to a different brand
Do you use a USB HUB? Connect the base directly to the PC, or an externally powered USB hub. Another thing you can try is to disconnect every other USB device (except keyboard and mouse ofc.) and close every other software before upgrading.
It is not software related imo, as in that case no base could be updated.
Try to re-plug USB when the error is shown and the updater is still open.
When the updater is showing the issue -> open Windows device-manager -> go to the view settings and sort by container -> look for Fanatec related entry or one which is "CS-WB-DD" -> check if there is an error shown or if its disabled -> use right click to re-enable it if possible. Let me know if its not shown at all or whater is the case.
Run the repair function of the driver installer, this will also attempt to re-install the USB drivers including the ones of the update mode.

THis one. https://fanatec.com/us-en/accessories/pedal-accessories/clubsport-usb-adapter
No. You need a straight usb connection from pedals to PC. No Adapter.
Ok thanks for info!

That's not a driver or firmware related death. It's hardware so you need to contact the support.
Alright, thanks for the guidance 👍🏼

Saw it but no idea what could cause it. So dont know if driver, firmware or hardware issue, could be anything tbh.
Best would be to contact the support for sure.
Thank you. Will contact support.
IRacing is releasing an API for 360hz ffb. Are you going to implement It soon? Thanks
@Maurice
Why is there no longer any engine calibration on the Clubsport DD? Isn't this important against cogging?
Was already not available on CSL DD anymore ;)
Inrunner motors dont need that as they are smoother than Outrunner motors anyway and there is nothing a Motor calibration could improve.
Maybe at some point, most likely not anytime soon though as it requires a LOT of work to implement and there are currently zero ressources for such stuff.
OK thanks.
I had a DD1 for a long time, a CSL DD for a very short time and now the Clubsport DD.
The CSL felt a bit more direct than the Clubsport, especially when turning in for the first time
I always use the same settings, without extra dampers.
What could be the reason? Was hoping for the engine calibration ;-)
Idk. CS should feel much more direct and unfiltered than CSL and P.
Ok, then I hope things get better with the 455.
So far just connected and driven.

Not possible to disable this in CPL.

"multi million euro company" does not equate to "multi million euro profits"

To everyone with the Xbox Mode not being available on CSL DD or P DD
Here are two firmware test exports and it would be great of someone could confirm if the issue gets solved with them.
How to update:
Podium DD firmware
CSL DD firmware
What could be the reason for a Firmware Update Failure of DD+? As soon as I start the update the wheel base loses USB Connection.
Is it possible for this issue to be driver/ firmware related or hardware related? There are a couple of DD+ owners having this or a similar problem.
