So I've noticed something odd, which I think might be a bug. I've seen the following happen repeatedly over the last few days in iRacing, with both the 488 GT3 Evo and the BMW M Hybrid.
After much trial and error, I think I've isolated it.
In Fanalab, my active profile has "Driving Reverse" damping enabled (strength 50, intensity 2) in the Dynamic FFB tab, which is supposed to add damping when you're going in reverse. "Speed Sensitive" is disabled on that tab. What I've now noticed is that if I drive in reverse, then forward, sometimes that extra damping doesn't go away as expected. So today in a test session, for example, I was reversing out of my pit stall for a bit, then going forward back into my stall, to measure how long fuel and tire changes were going to take. After some unknown number of these, the damping got "stuck", and would remain until I turned off that setting in Fanalab. Or sometimes repeating the process (reverse then forward again) would clear it up.
Just tried in another test session, and I had to repeat it a few times, but I can generally make it happen within 10 or so iterations of the reverse/forward process. I'm reversing at somewhere around the 50mph pit limit in my testing, but I don't think that matters, as I definitely wouldn't have been going that fast when it happened out on track.
I never would have noticed this, except it happened out on the track as well, generally after going off and needing to reverse a bit to get back on track.
My workaround for now, of course, is just to disable the Driving Reverse damping option.
Hi, I'm new to the Forum, sorry if I ask old questions. I switched from console to PC.
I find Fanalab profiles a great job.
Unfortunately since the last update 447 I have many oscillations in a straight line, if I take my hands off the steering wheel, this already happened with Console. I use DD2 ,wheel v2.5.
With Assetto Corsa Competizione, game settings, as per instructions Fanalab profiles 1.66
That is a normal and expected behaviour when using my profiles.
They are designed for maximum details, which can only be achieved with relatively low Damper settings and this can cause oscillations when taking hands off the wheel, yes. Best advise is to not do that :D
Since Maurice is holding off on his profile update until the next release, I thought I'd post my settings for the BMW M Hybrid (in iRacing), in case it's helpful for anyone (settings are on DD1, Formula wheel) -
SEN 1080
FFB 55
FFS Peak
NDP 6
NFR 4
NIN off
INT 4
FEI 70
FOR 100
SPR off
DPR off
This is with the new iRacing "smoothing" setting set to 0 (which I think is the default as of today, earlier the default was 15).
No promises you'll like it :), but this is what I use!
Thanks so much for the profiles. I'm brand new to this all so I have a some quick questions - how do the profiles affect the physical base settings on the actual DD1/DD2? Do the profiles override them so there's no need to adjust them? Or are they supposed to be adjusted in tandem with the profiles? Should I be on Auto Setup mode or something like Setup 1 with custom settings I can find somewhere?
Auto Setup is not supported by a lot of games, actually only R3E, but when you load a profile it will automatically overwrite your existing Setup and will load the Setup with which the profile was saved (Setup 1 for pretty much every file) anyway.
How to calculate to adapt to DD1 is explained in the readme files, together with in-game values.
So I’ve been experiencing weird ffb belt mechanic feel when Fanalab is open in the background and racing in ACC, Rfactor 2 and Iracing. I tried running the sims without Fanalab open in the background and the odd FFB went away.
With the profiles of Fanalab 1.65 in ACC you recommended having Gain at 50 in the game. With Fanalab 1.66 Gain in the game at 60, I have observed that with 60 there can be clipping, for example in Ou Rouge. Is 60 better even if there is some clipping?
On the other hand, what do you think of using linear in DD2?
I have tested your profiles in Linear, FFB + 25% (over Peak) and FEI 100, and I have doubts. It is less spectacular, but being less aggressive, the steering seems to have less oscillations and allows a little more control over the vehicle.
Thank you very much for your answer and your excellent work.
I use simhub on port 20777 and forward udp to 20888 to fanalab and nothing happens, any help? 20888 is the default port on fanalab? please help me I´m getting crazy lol
You use the Origin version I guess? Then you first need to set the correct exe path on the Main page so you then can click the two green buttons in the game profile Tab to enable Telemetry and Enable Fanalab support.
I am using fanalab with the latest drivers, after a power outage, the acc profiles all show DD2 and not dd1 and I get a profile mismatch warning. Reinstalled Fanalab, 447 Drivers and reloaded the profiles? the 991.2 GT#R and other profiles continue to show DD@ and not my DD1 hardware
You need to load the profile, adapt the settings to DD1 and then overwrite the profile to save it with your hardware to not get that warning the next time you load the profile.
Hi Maurice, i love your work on the profiles. I use it all the time for the cars that i drive. Is it possible to get a profile for the new iRacing BMW Hybrid M V8?
Comments
"Is this version of Fanalab compatible with driver 447 for V2,5 ?" - Yes. In fact, its the ONLY compatible version for Driver 447!
Thank you !
I'm sure this has been requested before but an option to increase the UI size would be very welcome for us older people. Thanks.

Yep, that's a known issue and under investigation to be fixed next year.

very kind for the quick reply, in fact the details are very realistic, thanks.
Ah - perfect, thanks for the response!

With this Forum Software this is not possible for me.

Can I use you're setup profile I have a 2.5V and not a DD ?
You can use the LED settings but not the Tuning Menu settings.
makes sens !

Hello Maurice, I use steam account
Then FanaLab didnt properly recognized the steam installation.
Go to the main page and click the green "eye" icon on the top right, that way FanaLab searches for new games again.
Then it should detect your F1 22 steam installation and then the two green buttons get accessable.
Maurice, is this normal?
Yes
I am using fanalab with the latest drivers, after a power outage, the acc profiles all show DD2 and not dd1 and I get a profile mismatch warning. Reinstalled Fanalab, 447 Drivers and reloaded the profiles? the 991.2 GT#R and other profiles continue to show DD@ and not my DD1 hardware
That's because the profiles were made with a DD2.
So that mismatch warning is normal.
You need to load the profile, adapt the settings to DD1 and then overwrite the profile to save it with your hardware to not get that warning the next time you load the profile.

Yes, VERY soon. ;)
