could be my question :-) last version i gave a try was 432. it was feeling fine in the beginning - and suddenly (e.g. after pausing the game) it got worse (just like Volker Schäfer and Tomaz Hocevar described) restarting the base fixed it for a few minutes. especially the centering position on streights was feeling really wierd.
It's not only in menu. It goes on when you go back to the game. Only base restart helps. Also any news about the jolts? This is also getting ridiculous...
Maurice tnx. I'm watching you for years now and I really admire how calm and professional you always are. People don't give you enough credit for how much you help them.
I tried this driver on my GT Pro DD with V3 Pedals, Fana Handbrake, and Fanatec Shifter in hopes it would fix my FH5 game crashes and of course it does not but...
It felt great. I tried many of the new drivers recently and this was the best feel i had. I am a Fanatec newb however.
I have since reverted to my old wheel, G920 with :( with Fanatec Accessories via USB's and the 405 driver (i know i should try 415 driver for this setup), but because i know that this works and i have some game time planned with friends Im just going to stick with it.
However I did find some issues with 434 driver stated below:
Most notable was the shifter was calling 4th gear 2nd gear and 3rd gear 1st gear sometimes. I re calibrated the shifter several times. This never happened with 405. Now I have not tried 405 since I reinstalled it yet, but i am hoping it works just like it did before. Could firmware updates from 434 cause issues any issues?
I also had some random throttle issues that felt like the clutch was being fully presse, but it happens so fast that I don't have time to look and see if that was the case. But it did happen over and over.
Here's my specs:
GT Pro DD, V3 Pedals, 1.5 Handbrake, 1.5 Shifter on I91100k/RTX 3080/64GB Ram
I hope you find this useful as i look forward to getting back to my Fanatec wheel.
I hope this isn't too OT for this thread, but I just recently got the GT DD Pro with Boost Kit and V3 pedals, my first Fanatec equipment.
Coming from a Thrustmaster I'm blown away, just loving the experience, but I'm also wondering whether it would make sense to update the 4.29 to the beta drivers (seeing how many people here are positively commenting on the improved FFB etc.), or if it'd be better to wait for the next official release, which seems right around the corner (correct me if I'm wrong)?
Any input on potential benefits/downsides would be greatly appreciated.
I am currently using the 434 driver and have exactly the same problem. Will this be fixed soon? And is there a alternative e.g. using an older driver like 429 until it is fixed?
I've been struggling yet again with this new firmware. While DD2 mode and Xbox mode works perfect, Comp V2.5 mode is broken. I see the PC can recognise the V2.5 in device manager, but Fanatec control panel and Fanallab doesn't see any devices.
Have tried the usual restart PC, resinstall firmware and disconnect/reconnect wheelbase. No fix! Help!
Yes, as discussed everywhere for weeks: it's a game issue which the game Developers need to fix. You have to complain in their forums as there is nothing Fanatec can do.
fanatec dd1 ps4 / ps5 i have the same problems in f1 2021, wrc 10 and dirt rally 2.0 now the ffb is not as good as before (429 was better) modifying INT on the steering wheel creates interference in the ffb. and dpr feels 100% horrible. i want to go back to 429 but i am afraid to downgrade the firmware manually and something bad will happen to the dd1
Just uninstall and install 429. Then manualy flash firmware. Leave the motor firmware 42. You have to downgrade/flash steering wheel also. It doesn't work right with 43x and fanalab.
Try Assetto Corsa Competizione. Works well. The game developers who appreciate that users will get peripherals to enhance their experience and update the game just so that they work.
Playground Games do not care about how their game will interact with another device. They just want your money. 😉
I can only confirm this. At the moment I play only F1 2021. I used to play only on ps5 (there is all ok). But in the last few days I played a lot on PC and I must say I had two major issues. The one on the game menu (which is known and you investigate on that) and the other wich is mentioned here. When I join to a online lobby and the race starts, the FFB is not good at all. (Sticky feeling and very hard). You can resolve this only with a restart of the wheelbase. After restart it is perfect, but it can change all of a sudden on the next race.
I think I'll go back to 429 and give this Firmware a try on PC.
@Tomaz: I gave up on a jolts solution and bought an external Vocore screen to put some telemetry data on. Jolts are an issue since day one and although we had some good news somewhere this year that they were rewriting the complete Podium firmware to solve this issue it has been pretty silent since.
About the FFB that has gotten worse since v429, i have a different experience, what motor firmware are you running because v429 came with a test motor firmware for the podium bases. I haven't run it without that firmware so i can't say how it feels without that firmware but 429 and upwards were a positive change of direction for direction for me when it comes to FFB and the feeling of the DD2.
@Maurice: Agree on that one. I have spend a few hours on iRacing since v429 (i had planned a lot but then things happened so i couldn't spend a s much time as i wanted in the sim) and used the "beta" motor firmware V41 on it and it has never felt as good as it is at this moment. I'm not on the latest and greatest 434 (running v431 at the moment) version and i'm not 100% what has changed but overall the steering feels a bit less sticky and smoother than it did with previous versions.
I still don't think Fanatec is getting 100% of the capabilities of the hardware in the Podium series but things have improved significantly last releases so let's hope they can keep up with this trend
The problem is that jolts start even if you use menu on the steering wheel than switch back to fanatec logo. I have jolts all the time. And i'm always on fanatec logo. That's why i've been so sick of it. Two fucking years already...
About the FFB, it's sometihing like Volker Schafer described. It just gets worse after some time. When i switch back to 429, everything worked fine. I left motor firmware at 42. But everything else was downgraded to 429 package. Even the steering wheels.
Having jolts even on the "Fanatec logo" screen shouldn't be happening (has nothing to do with the steering wheel by the way, you should display the logo on the wheelbase and DON'T use the ITM features to display data on the wheelbase oled), at least i don't have them when leaving it on the startup screen. Did you disable ITM in Fanalab also?
Last week a did a few longer sessions (+ 3 hours) with v431 in iRacing but i didn't experience any issues with it at all.
Comments
same here (just with f1)
Weird.
For me and almost everyone else the FFB is better than ever...
since which version?
So 434 fixed FFB staying in the wheel when you pause the game and damper or ffb doesn't start acting wierd after some time?
could be my question :-) last version i gave a try was 432. it was feeling fine in the beginning - and suddenly (e.g. after pausing the game) it got worse (just like Volker Schäfer and Tomaz Hocevar described) restarting the base fixed it for a few minutes. especially the centering position on streights was feeling really wierd.
No. FFB and Damper active in Menu is a firmware issue currently under investigation.
But the FFB on Track is better than ever since 431.
It's not only in menu. It goes on when you go back to the game. Only base restart helps. Also any news about the jolts? This is also getting ridiculous...
I have zero issues in game at all with FFB, only sometime that the FFB pulls the wheel to one side in the game Menu. But that's it..
No news about the Jolts other than that they are still being investigated and the required firmware re-write is ongoing AFAIK.

434 is no longer beta, it has Release Candidate status which will transform into a new stable driver most likely next week.
It will give you by far the best experience for the GT DD PRO to date so it's absolutely worth it over the 429.
Thank you, Maurice. So, it's best to just wait for the stable driver next week, to not have to uninstall/reinstall the release candidate again, right?
I am currently using the 434 driver and have exactly the same problem. Will this be fixed soon? And is there a alternative e.g. using an older driver like 429 until it is fixed?
I experienced this issued the other day also. DD1 on 433
same here DD1 on playstation 5

Try a different USB Port.
I have. Still the same.
Forza Horizon 5 crashes. impossible to play ...
I tried 429 but after a few tries I had the same problem again...

Maurice, it is different person you told earlier. Every person who plays FH5 will ask the same question as they will not have read the previous post.
Try Assetto Corsa Competizione. Works well. The game developers who appreciate that users will get peripherals to enhance their experience and update the game just so that they work.

The jolts still happen on fanatec logo screen on dd1 it is just not as prevalent
