Podium Button Module Endurance Software Package v1.2 [Incl. Instructions] (Only Podium DD)
Hello to all customers of the Podium Button Module Endurance. Here you can find the software you need and instructions how to install it. We are very, very sorry for the bumpy start and hope you have a great experience nonetheless.
Below you will find instructions in video and text form as well as the remaining known issues and tips for troubleshooting if needed. At the End of the post you can find links to the Quick Guides and the download link of the software package.
Installation Instructions:
Step 1: Install driver 356
- Open the driver UI and install all firmware versions the driver prompts with a message, if no message appears or you are not familiar with firmware updates continue with step 2 for details.
- You have to re open the driver for each firmware update until no update message is prompted.
- The Fan might run at 100% after the base firmware update which is normal, proceed with the following updates and the fan will go back to normal speed.
- Update the PHUB to firmware v2, you might need to remove the USB-C of the BME before you can do that.
Step 2: Update the base firmware manually to version 670
- Go to the Update tab of the driver UI and click on "Update Wheel Base Firmware".
- Accept the message with YES, then click "Start Firmware Updater".
- Click on "Connect"
- "Flash Firmware" and wait until the bar is full
- When Message Logs says "Firmware update Completed successfully." close the updater. The base reboots automatically
Step 3: Go to the Settings tab of the driver interface to calibrate your hardware
- Calibrate your center with the "Wheel Center Calibration" button
- Remove the wheel and click on "Motor Sensor calibration", attach the wheel after the process in done.
- If you have a H-Shifter attached, use the "H-Shifter Calibration" button
Step 4: Update the firmware of the Button Module Endurance to version 9
- Go to the update tab and click on "Update Steering Wheel Firmware"
- Accept the message with YES if needed and click on "Connect" when the updater opens.
- "Flash Firmware" and wait until the bar is full.
- When Message Log writes "Firmware updater can now be closed" close the updater.
Step 5: Install FanaLab 1.24 and enable Intelligent Telemetry Mode
- Go to the folder "4. FanaLab_v1-24_beta" and start the "FanaLab_v1-24_beta.msi" to install FanaLab.
- After the installation, close FanaLab if it's open.
- Open the "Enable_ITM.reg" file in the "4. FanaLab_v1-24_beta" folder and accept the messages with yes.
- Open FanaLab and use the button combination mentioned in the Quick Guide to switch through the ITM pages on the displays.
Trouble Shooting:
- If the gamecontroller interface doesn't show your base:
- Restart the base and PC and try a different USB port.
- Start the driver installer again and use the repair function.
- If that didn't help try a different USB port.
- If that didn't help, try to delete the device driver through the device manager manually and if needed use the repair function again.
- Remember if you have a Xbox compatible wheel attached the base will go into Xbox mode after the base update. Either use the button combination to get back to PC mode or remove the wheel and it will go automatically into PC mode. You can attach it again after that.
- FanaLab and the driver should be installed on the "C:" drive for best compatibility.
Known Issues:
- It's not possible to do the shifter calibration after the firmware upgrade with the P BME, since stays in the tuning menu page. Unplugging the DataPort-C connector and plugging it again allows to continue with the calibration.
- Total number of laps / players missing in ITM
- Occasionally ITM shows gear as "n" while downshifting and stays there until next gear is engaged.
- Vertical axis in the analog joystick is inverted compared with other wheels which leads to inverted mouse emulation behavior.
- Interpolation description text interferes with the setting name
- Interpolation description text for "high interpolation can reduce details and response" not in sync with the DD text (already at value 5 instead of 9)
- In mouse emulation mode the mouse is only moving when inputs are changing, when you hold the stick in one position it stops.
- In the driver the positions for the MPS are all 1 value off, in-game it's fine.
- ITM can reset some values when you enter and exit the Tuning Menu.
- In Xbox Mode the BME sends tuning menu inputs also to the console in parallel.
- Tuning Menu very laggy when Forza Motorsport 7 is running on Xbox one.

Wow, good work, but there is a little Problem: Delivery Date of the mysterious box: very very very soon next year, although ordered 1.12.2019.
We know, here's the thread for that: https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/1412/delayed-podium-steering-wheel-porsche-911-gt3-r/p5
Do I need to install the Fanalab software also to use the Button Module or is it also working without Fanalab ?
You need FanaLab for the ITM. The rest of the Button Module Endurance is also working without FanaLab.
Thanks for explanation. And with the new driver V353... have there been any improvements on the problems on the V352 Driver, like for example the loud clunk noise when switching off the DD base ? Or is it only for the functionallity of the Button Module?
Only functionaility update for the BME.
It seems there's no new motor driver, so the problem should still remain...
Does this FW correct the Random Switching between Podium Hub and UHX???
If Not I do need to update to 353 Now I will wait... I don't have BME until Next week
There wont be a new driver anytime soon, its holiday now. Driver 353 will be the last one this year AFAIK.
And no, it doesnt fix the random switching between RUHX and P HUB unfortunately :/
Is it possible to use the Button Module with this firmware together with an older driver version for the Base also ?
No, you need driver 353 and the firmwares from the first post.
Thanks for all your help Maurice .
This is just sad.
Basically, all of your loyal customers that dropped $650 on a wheel are recruited as beta testers now. And effectively if we don't want to install the "Thump bug" on our DD motors, we will need to play with Porsche rim without the Podium button box.
It's begining to sound like the 4 day delay was completely in vain because 1) nothing has been fixed 2) all the firmware is still in Beta phase.
The 4 day delay just bought you a lot of irritated customers and not a lot of job security.

As reported in this thread: https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/1414/fanatec-beta-driver-v352-dd-performance-update-for-podium-bases-all-wheels#latest a number of individuals have BRICKED THEIR DD BASES by updating to firmware 352. As confirmed by Fanatec in this thread, remedies to the concerns noted in firmware 352 are NOT RESOLVED in 353.
Yikes...and I was already hesitant to update firmwares. Cassandra, what are you going to do? I am now leaning towards just leaving this new wheel on the shelf until this is resolved...
I have bad luck when upgrading the firmware of anything to begin with, and the last thing I want to do is break something that I don't know how to undo! I am computer illiterate'
Am I reading these responses properly in that, if I just take the podium out of the box and do zero upgrades...I can still use the podium wheel to steer, upshift, and downshift, correct? Just nothing on the button module?
you sir have a suitable plan B as we discussed.
Until then I have a suede Porsche paperweight 🤣
Typically when software engineers beta test their release versions, they use a period of 2-3 months to collect data, then they'll take that data back and make progress on the software. I expect it will be quite some time to have a full firmware release with the "bugs worked out". I am unaware of any full release firmware updates for the DD since it's initial release and Fanalab has always been in Beta since release.
However, should you install 353 and subsequently find that you have damaged hardware, you may find yourself lining up for a RMA. Many folks don't mind going through and making warranty claims (be they firmware related failures or not). Decide what your risk appetite is and don't look back-- your limited options are clear. ^_^
Thanks. I definitely don’t want to go through all that. I messaged support about my order on 11/22 and never heard back. Ironically I heard back today, but all they said was that I reached tech support and that I needed to contact sales. Haha.
My DD1 is working smoothly with the F1 wheel and I don’t want to have that clunking issue just to be able to use the BME on the first day possible. I have people coming over for Christmas and they are going to want to go for a spin, so I’m definitely just gonna leave it.
Just to clarify though, I can plug in the Porsche podium wheel out of the box with no updates and the steering and shift up and down should at least work with firmware 345 right?
Yes, you can use the Porsche rim without the Button Module, if this is your wish.
The F1 wheel with podium paddles works even on firmware 335 (the first and last official stable release). So yes, your paddles will work on any firmware after that.
You will need firmware 353 or greater for the button box to work . You can assemble the whole thing; paddles to the podium hub, and the rim to the button box and to the hub. If you don't plan on using the podium button box, then you can leave the DataPort-C cable disconnected from the podium hub. (Your tachometer, flag, and OLED displays will not light up, the buttons will be non-functional. You won't receive any data back to the button box with the DataPort-C disconnected)
Install onto the DD base as you would any wheel.
As I am waiting for the new wheel with endurance module and being impatient I have loaded the driver and firmware [ apart from the endurance firmware] . I have also enabled the ITM and have now got the DD2 to display the extra info without having the endurance module.
Hi Marcel,
Just to confirm that this Podium Button Module Endurance software package is only to be utilised by owners of a Podium DD Base.
I am still to wait for the correct software package to use my Clubsport Porsche 911 GT3 R wheel on my newly purchased Clubsport Wheel Base v2.5?
A special firmware which makes the csw v2.5 partly compatible with the BME is expected for Q1 2020, not included in this package.
THIS FUCKING BUTTON BOX WILL NOT WORK WITH THE X BOX UNIVERSAL HUB
It does.
I THINK FANATEC WILL BE GETTING A BUNCH OF RETURNS FROM PISSED OFF CUSTOMERS WHO UNTIL NOW WERE LOYAL TO THEM, NOTE THE THE BEAN COUNTERS DO NOT LAUNCH A PRODUCT UNTIL IT FULLY OPERATIONAL !!!!!!
Thanks Maurice,
Understood that the csw v2.5 was not compatible with the PBME currently but hopefully the release of a new firmware doesn't blow out to Q2, Q3 or Q4 of next year.
That's when I'll be asking for a REFUND.
FUNCTIONALITY OF THE BUTTON BOX IS IDENTICAL WITH BOTH UNIVERSAL AND PODIUM HUBS!!!
Granted, at the moment that means it barely works with either. ;-)
Is it possible to enable the ITM without fanalab, because i am a PS4 console user?
