I recently update my DD2 with the last driver (the old was 402).
I am happy with it but i would like a confirmation please.
When i turn ON my DD2, idle do you feel something when you put your hands on the wheel ? There is something like a small feeling like to motor is is powered. This is a very very light feeling.
I only want to have your confirmations please because i do not remember if that was the case with the old driver.
For my personal knowledge, do you know if this is related to the direct drive technology itself or if it could be considered with future driver/firmware?
my setup is a CSL DD (8Nm) with Formula V2 racing wheel with Podium shifters.
During the tests with 440 for a couple of weeks in ACC I have noticed some (minor) issues which I want to share :
the racing wheel seems to hang itself on rare occasions (about every other day). Shifting does not work anymore then, and shortly thereafter the FFB drops completely. Also the display and lights on the wheel are frozen at this point. The wheel rotation and pedals (connected to the base) keep working. Other than rebooting the whole PC I found out simply removing and putting the wheel back on the base solves that problem, which also resolves FFB.
On rare occasions there is one single noticeable jolt during driving (sounds a bit like hitting the shaft with a metal stick) which can also be felt very well in the FFB. Although this is somewhat disrupting it is not a game breaker.
On another note (not software related) I would like to mention the power connnector to the wheel base seems quite wobbly on the CSL DD base and I am not sure if there is always good connections on all the pins, so I have fixed it with a rubber band.
I chased the rabbit down a wrong hole apparently. Tried to get rid of the middle rubberband feeling and in that used too much damper. Noticed this on Suzuka by the high speed sweeper before the straight chicane. Could not go through that comfortly with old settings without loosing rear grip a little. With near recommended I could do it easily because not so sensitive. So now no Damper in ACC but NDP 30 (no oscillations). I dont like the general feeling though, its so rubberbandy in the middle.
The resolution of those FFB graphs will be increased again with the upcoming new driver and firmware package but is still on this lower res in this driver 440.
As the ITM is only working with a sender/receiver app for the UDP/Shared Memory Telemetry data like FanaLab it is not possible to get it working on Playstation, no.
MAYBE the recently launched Fanatec App could be an option for this sometime in the feature...
If you're looking for telemetry data when playing on console, you can use an app like Sim Racing Telemetry. Can run it on your phone (iOS or Android) or PC via Steam. As long as your console and the device you run SRT on are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, you're good to go. It can get a little pricey if you want to unlock the more advanced functions, but I've used the basic version when preparing for F1 league races on Xbox, and for comparing brake/throttle traces and time deltas, it's great.
yes, because the brief is a week, go two at the most, for fanatec it's a year at least, it makes you want to sell everything and buy from any other brand.
the important thing is not that they bring it out now or asap, the important thing is that they test it well and, once again, we do not have to act as beta testers.
I'm sure that Maurice has been trying it for some time... and from what he says it's clear that he likes what he's trying. So we will have to have a little patience that everything comes. We want a driver that is good and fast and we don't want to be a beta tester. So be patient!! ;)
Yesterday was a holiday in Germany where Men (in paricular fathers and upcoming fathers) drink a lot of Alcohol with a typical bridge day today to sober up again where almost nobody is working in Germany...
Why even mention the end of this week when you know it's a holiday?
Honestly I don't expect the new firmware in less than 6 months, at which point I'll likely own another wheelbase.
We've been promised this update "soon" for nearly two years, and Fanatec reps were fairly specific about hinting at the end of this week, but suddenly there's a holiday. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
It's bad enough you guys don't mention the firmware defects on the official site anywhere, certainly not before you've committed to a $1000+ purchase. We've had generic promises of "soon" for years.
Can I get a refund over the jolts? I feel like I've been falsely advertised to. My patience has worn very thin with Fanatec.

I second this.

Thank you for reading me !
That's normal, yes.
Hello Maurice, thank you for your confirmation!!
For my personal knowledge, do you know if this is related to the direct drive technology itself or if it could be considered with future driver/firmware?

Greetings.
That's normal for an outrunner motor and can not be improved via Firmware as it's just the typical characteristic of the motor.
Thank you very much Maurice for your explanations !

Hopefully, the new drivers will get rid of that.
Hello,
I would like to ask a short question here. The FFB analysis display looks like this:
Will this remain unchanged after the Update to 440 or can I expect a higher resolution like shown in the old graphs?
Many thanks!
The resolution of those FFB graphs will be increased again with the upcoming new driver and firmware package but is still on this lower res in this driver 440.
Hi Maurice,
thanks for your reply! I hope I'm allowed to ask one more question.
Is there a slight chance to get this telemetry data when using the PODIUM F1 base on the Playstation or does it only work on PC with FanaLab?
I understood FanaLab is useless for Playstation users, right?
Many thanks again.
Cheers,
Thorsten

Your point 1, I can not determine with my GT DD Pro.
I can confirm your point 2 with my GT DD Pro. I also have this strange beat now and then, since the update to FW440. It feels like hitting metal.
the very soon of fanatec does not coincide with mine ........ do we have a date? I'm about to lose my patience !!!!!
Still no exact date but still "VERY soon".
It's a matter of days.
Maybe its a good idea to check the forum at the end of this week or early next week and in the meantime relax and calm down :)
yeah, because threatening to "lose my patience" is going to actually do anything.
yes, because the brief is a week, go two at the most, for fanatec it's a year at least, it makes you want to sell everything and buy from any other brand.
It doesn't make me want to do anything other than use the hardware that I have, that works fine for me.
the important thing is not that they bring it out now or asap, the important thing is that they test it well and, once again, we do not have to act as beta testers.

I am patient! Is it out yet? ;)
Today would be a good day to test that long-awaited controller ;)
Yesterday was a holiday in Germany where Men (in paricular fathers and upcoming fathers) drink a lot of Alcohol with a typical bridge day today to sober up again where almost nobody is working in Germany...
So there wont be anything today...
Warm up for Oktober Fest!? 🤣
All I can say to the Fanatec team is, take your time for development and testing in order to release a software package which works well at the end.
And meanwhile we can enjoy the summer season instead of going mad or even impolite.
I have no doubts that the Fanatec crew is aiming for a great customer experience.
Cheers,
Thorsten
Yea you're right. Let's wait another couple of years.
exactly ....... but without being rude
😂
