Thats for CSW v2.5 on PC...I have not tried the McClaren wheel on Xbox1 yet --> I'm Not too hopeful about button mapping on Xbox1 because MS is always blocking stuff up when it come to that.... PS4 i cancelled My PS4 online account when they Blocked CSW v2.5 and other Fanatec wheels from working and haven't touched it for gaming since...it makes a decent blue ray player though :D No way was i going to Buy another wheel just to play PS4 [-X I invested a few more $$$ and went right to PC \:D/ once I went PC its pretty much impossible for Me to go back to console racing :-h i will test the button mapping on Xbox1 and report back.
  • Just to verify, the two encoder buttons in the center can be mapped also or is this something a future update will add functionality for?  Currently these and the secondary padel will not map for me in RaceRoom, haven't tried the wheel with any of the others yet.
The second paddles will Map in Race Room, Pcars2 etc.... in order to map the secondary paddles in any game you Must have the Paddle mode switch -->the Blue marked encoder switch in the "D" position --> positions A,B,C are preset and can Not be mapped.

so far I'm using the right paddle for look back and its working great!!! using VR in online Multi player to be able to use the right paddle to look back with No button searching it's really boosting confidence going into corners because i can better judge when and where i need to Brake or Move to avoid 1st corner Rammers and take out Specialist!!!

The top 2 rotary encoder switches i recommend connecting wheel to PC and setting them to the 11 switch position this means position 1= Off for Now until games are optimized to use them...Hopefully games will get optimized to use them soon but until then its just really cool to know that they can and do work depending on game optimization <--- All other Rims with rotary encoders the encoder knob is just there for looks and has no use Not Now Not ever.
And thats for PC, PS4 and Xbox?
Hey Michael can you elaborate on setting them to the 11 position?
  • This has to be done on PC in the Fanatec wheel properties --> Go to settings --> multi position switch and select it from the drop down menu.
If you click on the ? mark next to setting it will explain your choices.  I recommend 11 postions(position 1= Off) this way you dont have any problems with games trying to read position 1 as any type of input until they get properly optimized to make use of these switches.

You made a great choice to move to PC I guess, I am jealous. Do you do some Youtube videos while racing in VR on PC?

once you go PC there is No turning back!!! even FM7 on PC is a totally different game than on Xbox1 the FFB on PC is much Much better feels very much the same as Assetto Corsa for PC.

Look on youtube for GrimeyDog I made a few Videos in VR... I haven't uploaded any in a bit but i have some Great Races in VR that i will upload this week some time.....

For those on PC that don't have it rF2 is just amazing Now its Dx11!!! I felt the v2.5 come alive like Never before!!!! AND THE SECONDARY PADDLE's can be Mapped in it.
  • Thanks Lorrell I have seen a video with your gear and the Rift, great stuff. I am sure I will move to the PC soon, Assetto Corsa Competizione is on it´s way, besides the FANATEC gear is optimized for PC, so there are many reasons to upgrade.
    Enjoy and have fun.
  • Sorry this post is going to be a unhappy customer. First I will start with the good. The clicks in the shifts are very nice and the short travel is a nice touch. However....

I have to say I think you guys really dropped the ball on this dual clutch system and it was the #1 reason why I bought this wheel. The fact there is no encoder to set the bit point so I can fully use the travel of the paddle is just bad in design and it would have not costed much more to add one encoder to the wheel to set this.

First reason is the most important, which is the travel in the paddle. For example if I have a car that has a bite point at 50% then I have to hold this paddle at 50% and I only have 50% left in travel to feather that clutch. It gets worse as the % goes down in bite point. Second is you leave it to the person to hold that exact bite point each launch. Last which won't matter to most is for people that play in VR this isn't a easy task. Yes muscle memory will get me close to where I need to be or in the current Oculus I can look down and see the %. However all these reason are valid and I cannot understand why you would not have a encoder to let me set the percentage of bite for the 2nd paddle?

what you are saying can probably be done with a future FW update where you use a button press to lock in the bite point.

i dont know if every one is having this issue but i use the left paddle for full clutch and right paddle to set/Hold bite point only problem is the right paddle will not hold a steady position EX: i cant get it to stay at 50% steady it always moves up down +5 & -5 but if i use the Left paddle to set bite point i can get it to hold 50% steady as long as i want it to....Even in the Fanatec wheel properties page the right secondary paddle wont hold a steady reading.... Is any 1 else having this issue??? I figure it maybe a FW thing like when the v3 pedals first launched the brake pedal had random spike issues. If No one else is getting this i may have to contact support.

Edit: I tried to quote you but it's just quoting the whole reply so removed quoted text

I do not have that issue so must be something with that side for you. I do not think a firmware update will do it and if Fanatec wanted it to work this way they would have released it that way. I think the reason a firmware update will not work is because you need a rotary encoder  and the only one on this wheel is the funky switch which is kind of like their branding for their wheels. Don't think they will allow that to go away.

You're killing me, Thomas. My inner child is terribly impatient.  :!!   :)

But seriously, the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on an Accuforce is because I have faith that Fanatec's servo will be better than their hybrid. I'd also like to keep my Fanatec rim set. :)

Got my fingers crossed for this summer.

    Thanks Lorrell, got it.
  • it was said that the DD base would be on sale Summer 2018.... But thinking about it in Real life production terms i think it will follow the CSR Elite (<-- Yes No typo CSR Elite... You would have to have been around for a while to know) and McClaren rim it will be for pre order only and i wouldn't expect to have the DD base in My hands until just before Christmas. Id rather have a Base thats Fully tested and foul proof than to have a base that works for 1 month then its gotta go back for a few weeks for repair.... I just Upgraded from the RSeat RS1 to the RSeat N1 <--- Much more Room and much more Comfortable so Im really looking forward to the Fanatec DD also....the v2.5 is GREAT and the DD is supposed to be better @-) I may Never Leave My Man Kave once i get the DD 8-} Patience patience patience its hard but i know its going to be worth the wait \:D/

Hey Lorrell I have the rSeat RS1 also, but I have been thinking about the N1, is the Seat itself more comfortable or just the rig in general?

Thomas was your comment here in regards to my concerns with the dual clutch on the McLaren wheel or some thing else?

We are working on a new dual clutch mode which will work better than anything on the market as you will be able to save the values for different cars/games. It is currently in alpha phase and we expect beta next week.

This is one of the reasons why I choose Fanatec, continues aftermarket improvements..

I actually ran into an issue now where the McLaren GT3 steering wheel display is no longer working on my CSL Elite PS4 base. It was working as expected initially after updating the firmware and doing some initial testing, but for some reason now the display no longer shows anything when powering everything on. And when testing the wheel functions all the buttons are extremely unresponsive. I submitted a support ticket. I am not sure what I could have done wrong, my wheel doesn't fall into the prototype serial numbers or anything like that and I definitely followed the driver and firmware updates exactly as listed. Awaiting a response from Fanatec. I have tried reinstalling driver on PC and reflashing the base and the wheel but no luck so far.

Any ideas? Base still works completely fine with normal CSL Elite PS4 wheel on the latest firmware.

It was mentioned that there would be different torque models for the Podium series, some possibly coming later than others. Will a 20Nm version (or approx) be available at launch, or will be further down the line?
  • Hey guys, how I use quick release? I dont know how it gets on the McLaren GT3, is there some tutorial ?
    Thanks

  • watch the video and you can see how to attach the quick release

At the moment it looks like both versions will hit the market at the same time.

Summer of 2018. Hopefully that is Northern Hemisphere Summer. :)
  • I use the little program "Keysticks" to assign keystrokes to all the knobs in the new MCLaren steer for Iracing.
    Works very well. :D

With the new Firmware i have a Problem with a wandering center on my csl elite, i practically cant't drive in a straight line anymore. if i revert back to the old driver/firmware all is fine, but i cant use the Mclaren rim anymore.
I have a problem too, when I take the wheel about 3-4 degrees to the right, it goes back to 0.
You can't drive well like that, you lose the calibration, any solution ?
How can I go back to the previous firmware?
PD:Sorry for multipost above, for some error the comment was not sent
  • Thomas,

When will be available the GT3 rim for all of us.......... and will be a pre-order again or just for normal delivery?

    Regards,

i opened a support ticket, they haven't a solution at the moment, lets hope the best. it would be nice if you could open a ticket also, maybe it helps tracking down the problem faster.

regarding the firmware: you can uninstall the new driver, reinstall driver 293 and flash the old firmware from there.
