Answer to question 3, Marcel is a developer for Fanatec if i'm not mistaken, Maurice is a beta tester.
But i agree Fanatec could and should be a bit more visible on it's own community forum and maybe it's an idea to indicate a users relation to Fanatec also.
Anyone have any fixes for the Formula V2 wheel getting bricked by this driver? A few other people have posted about it in General over the last couple weeks. I just got my new DD1 and F1v2 last night and the DD1 updated just fine and will work with my P1 wheel, but the v2 actually causes the OLED to turn off and the base to disconnect from the PC. Did a bunch of fresh driver installs last night to try and revive the wheel but nothing worked.
Hello everyone. In my case I have the following problem. By installing the 400 controller and updating the firmware to V648 and V40, everything is updated correctly and everything works fine except for force feedback. Clicking the FFB TEST button does nothing and forced feedback does not work in games. In my case I had to go back to the 346 controller. My base is the DD2 and the steering wheel is the Podium Racing Wheel F1; I even tried installing from another pc and the same thing happens. What do you think might be happening?
When I take a hard hit into the wall in AMS2 sometimes my wheel centering is then off by up to 10 degrees (DD2 user). I have to exit and turn off the wheelbase and it stays like this when I turn the wheelbase back on. I then have to realign the wheel via the fanatec driver..
Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue w/ 402. Gary's theory about this particular phenomenon being a "connection issue" (USB signal integrity, or between the wheels) is appreciated but I think incorrect.
To recap (see the video here Podiumbme Debug-2 (streamable.com)) : when this happens, the wheel (and more importantly the DD1 wheel base) still behaves totally normal and there's no loss in FFB or wheel control. I don't even feel the FFB intensity drop like when the torque is truly lowered. It's only the messaging on the BME interface that incorrectly pops up (again, this doesn't pop up on the DD1 like it would in a normal startup case).
Also, I've only ever tested this in ACC (it's all I drive), but it could be an ACC-related issue, or at least something related to telemetry reporting from the game. I had it happen to me 3 or 4 times last night during a 90min race at Imola, all in the same corner of 12,13 (Acque Minerali) in the Merc GT3 (though I've observed it in other cars for sure). It is a corner that has a heavy TC response... it's almost as if the game telemetry is causing the BME to crash and restart.
Anyway, I agree it's a bit troublesome to not have had a Fanatec FW update to address this issue yet. This seems to be simply introduced by the addition of the new torque reporting feature on the BME, which IMO is unnecessary. I know this is a beta, but I would still love to see a "v403" release that simply removes this feature until it's more thoroughly baked.
I sometimes get something similar but for me it is steering / suspension damage. I then limp around the track back to the pits with the wheel off centre or if in practice, teleport to the pits. When I pit for repairs it is all good then, don't know if that is the same issue for you or not?
I continue with the inconveniences. Try different drivers and firmwares; for some reason my DD2 if I update to a firmware higher than V662 & V30 force feedback stops working. The rudder I use is the podium steering wheel racing f1.
Could it be that this steering wheel is not compatible with the DD2 and the firmware v648 & v40?
Ah good to know. FWIW I raced for ~2 hours tonight, same track, same car, same game, and zero instances of the problem. So this is very intermittent (last night I got it 3-4 times).
I changed one thing on the wheel but I'm pretty sure it's a red herring: I moved the INT (interpolation) from 2 to 6 to get rid of some "noise" the feeling during the straights.
The steering wheel IS compatible to driver 402 and incl. firmwares, you just need to update everything when using a new driver, not just the base and motor fw. a new firmware for your steering wheel is included in the driver package.
For me driver 4.02 bricks my cpu and my game crashes after a minute of racing. 346 fixed that. I missed a league race trying to resolve it but now everything it’s spot on apart from me not being able to update anything on my pc. F V2 and csw V2.5 are tuning latest FW updated on another pc
well that's obviously an issue with your PC I would say. Did you check your CPU load after the update to driver 402? Did you restart the system after uninstalling the old driver and installing the new driver?
Could anyone clarify whether there is any need to update the Clubsport V3 pedals if they're connected to a DD1 wheelbase rather than USB?
I understand that the pedals cannot be updated without unplugging them from the wheelbase and plugging them into a PC via USB. But that is such a pain that I'd rather not go through, every time there's a firmware update, if there's no reason to do it. It involves undoing multiple screws to access the board, and swapping cables, which seems ridiculous if it's required, but is equally a non-issue if it isn't.
Is the firmware only used when the pedals are connected via USB, and the wheelbase's firmware does all the work when the pedals are connected via the wheelbase? That would make sense to me, as I cannot believe Fanatec would not design the pedals so the firmware mattered when connected via the wheelbase but could not be updated via the wheelbase.
I mean, the wheelbase can update the firmware in a steering wheel, so surely it can update the firmware in some pedals that are directly connected to it, if it was needed? I cannot find any definitive answer as to whether or not it is needed.
My PC is crashing after just 2 or 3 minutes driving too (AMA2, Raceroom, PC3 and F1 2020) using Driver 402. Should I also revert back to Driver 400 to be on the safe side?

You got off lightly - My issue was on a $1500 DD2! :-)

New fixed driver on the way???
Very similar to my experience - I had to go back to 3.81 (I think!)
no, no ETA yet for a new driver.
How bad this on the part of fanatec, being one of the top brands in the market we have to suffer so much for a driver.

Has anyone else experienced this...?
Even after I recalibrate, turn off, turn on, restart pc it can be out... I wonder why it's started doing this...?
Have you checked if your shaft is a bit loose?
everything feels tight to me..
Check this

I have never taken it off and it is aligned. Thank you though..

nah it's not mechanicle damage on the vehicle as once it looses alignment it is off center outside the game as well..

Thanks Michael,
You can rule out the ACC issue theory as well as the problem is identical in iRacing.

Oh wow, that is strange then. Hopefully someone here will have a solution for you. F1A.
